Today is the 45th anniversary of John Lennon’s death.Does anyone else remember where they were when they heard? I was in high school and the following evening we had a vigil that involved some beer and a bit of weed in my parent’s basement. I remember this 17 year old girl, Val, taking a big haul off a joint, looking up and philosophically saying in a cloud of smoke “You can’t stop partyin’ just cuz you’re dead”. I laughed so hard I almost wet myself and that has been my mantra/catch phrase ever since.I use it all the time.

At first I saw this thread title and thought "oh no, I guess John Lennon passed away". Then I thought maybe I need a caffeine refill

Here's one of my favourite songs, not by John Lennon but inspired by him. It's Korean but the gist of it is we're not in the world you asked us to imagine yet but we'll keep imagining it

Not to be forgotten, today marks the 2004 onstage murder of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. Once called the "nicest guy in rock" by Dave Grohl, powerhouse guitarist from Pantera and Damageplan. An incredible talent and genuine and humble good person. I feel more of a loss with Dime than Lennon, but that`s me.

December 8th 1536, France and Portugal sign the Treaty of Lyons, a naval agreement aligning themselves against Spain.

I don't remember the day he died, I just remember his song, War is Over, played pretty much non-stop on the radio that Christmas.

Was watching Monday Night Football. Got the news from Howard Cosell.

Hit my mom pretty hard. I knew the music but, didn’t really understand why it affected so many people. After Elvis, this was a biggie for a lot of folks.

I remember waking up to the news on the clock radio. It felt awful a life taken like that.

I just watched the Eddie Murphy documentary “Being Eddie” on Netflix. Apparently Buckwheat died penniless and Eddie Murphy payed for his headstone. He came across as a really down to earth guy, not at all like I imagined him to be.
