Where are the Toronto Jays fans

Ehhh... I dunno. I could probably make it, as an experienced commuter. If you are a visitor to the city you might not figure out how the GO platforms work fast enough. Disembarking at Union is easier than embarking

As an experienced commuter that has many a time shared the train with noisy Jays fan after a late night at work, I probably would be relieved that the game ran long and cut them off

Then of course there is the discussion about the fact that the GO is highly optimized around commuting into the city for work, and it should probably be capable of more than that, but... well maybe this will cast more scrutiny on that old problem
As someone not experienced with the commute you could also easily follow the swarm of people headed towards the trains as well. I was at a Saturday Taylor Swift concert and the ACC was let out around the same time and we were out of the Dome in well under 10 and we just followed the flood of people headed in the direction I knew we needed to go. From leaving our seat to being on a train platform was about 20min.

Looks like the old Toronto curse has reared its ugly head again
Not my fault. I bought my wife Jays earrings and let her wear my (previously worn once only) '93 World Series Celebration shirt with the team signatures on it to work on Friday. If there's any truth to karma, I did my best ... but I have to tell you that a LOT of Elbows Up types turned this series into a "Canada vs. US" thing and were mocking the US online.

Anyway, I figured that someone might want to see this shirt. They're pretty rare, especially in this condition.999.webp

Nickname for the all nite Yonge St subway back in the 70s?

Are those real signatures? Or printed on as a series of shirts/sweaters?

Never made sense to me. Players from many countries on both teams.

Did the jays have a player born in Canada? Dodgers had a Canadian but that's because his parents were born in Canada and then moved to California before he was born. I don't know if he ever lived here.

Damn....guess I wasn't that lucky...

"Aric". While I haven't seen a last name, with a first name like that and a location, there can't be more than a handful of possible people. Sucks to be them (especially if there is more than one and some get harassed with no money), the vultures will be out in force.

Guerrero jr was born in Montreal and holds dual Canadian-Dominican citizenship. He grew up in the DR.
On April 9, Guerrero signed a 14-year, $500 million extension with the Blue Jays.[76] $325 million of the contract will be paid as signing bonuses each season, and the contract has no deferred money and does not include any opt-outs.

Will someone please explain the cash flow of a $500 million dollar contract. That's like 500 briefcases full of $100 bills.

Like most things, more paper and rules makes more problems. Deferred comp and bonuses hit the salary cap differently than normal salary. Like the tax code, it would be more equitable and better for most if it was grossly simplified. Total comp divided by length of contract gives you salary to be applied towards cap. People can still play games though without some guardrails(eg sign for a 50 year contract).

If they want to play tax games, deferred comp is easy to do but should not reduce the current salary cap hit.

As long as we're explaining things, can someone explain Trey Yesavage's compensation to me? Why is his salary $760,000 but his "adjusted salary" $57,204? What does that mean

Min salary for a rookie is 760K. He only played in the majors for something like 8 regular season games. So the math is something like 8/162*760k. That doesn't come out to $57k so my numbers aren't right but I think it is the right concept.

Pretty much this, but he is a pitcher so he did not pitch every game after the call up, so games played vs games (or days???) on the roster after call up, roster is what matters. Post season is not part of the calculation so 3 regular season games and likely 12 to 13 on the roster (four game rotation give or take) gets the math pretty close.
