The Bad Riders of Ontario Thread

On my way home tonight, westbound on Steeles at Kennedy in Scarborough. I pulled up beside a kid (I assume) on a CBR300, looked over and see that he's got some anime cartoon playing on his phone!?!...whilst riding!

Not strictly a bad rider but a bad choice of time and place. Lots of people went full karen and said the rider was going to kill people while riding at the speed of traffic. If anyone died, it would have been the rider as they are not in a good position to brake or steer quickly if required.

Hey,.. what`s the problem, he`s wearing a safety vest. ;) If that guy crashed in 400 traffic, he`s the only fatality. That looks like a red FZ6, shouldn`t be hard to find if they want.

Technically he attained 172 status with the standing up and side saddle stuff. Considering what you see from the RUN THIS knobs, it's pretty harmless(ish).

I wonder if a cop would let that 172 stuff slide in some conditions? Like a gravel road, soft shoulder, sand, or washboard cottage type road. Standing on the pegs, upper body forward lean at the waist, knees bent, elbows out, head up. I rode and or raced off road for years. Far superior control no question.

There's a letter floating around from some authority (JP, MTO, etc) that says that standing on the pegs is not 172. That letter doesn't stop the cop from charging you and it is not binding in court but you hope it is persuasive.

I hope most cops are not ***** and don't hand out 172 charges for standing on the pegs. In this video with side saddle, standing on the saddle, etc, while I still hate 172 as a law, it is pretty clear that he violated it.

I`d like to think that a cop would be understanding if you stood up for a second or two to get some feeling back in your arse or reposition the jewels, but who knows.

Never mind the times that standing on the pegs gives a better line of sight over parked vehicles and such increasing rider safety.
That could lead to a interesting conversation with a cop.

Not really. If they are slapping 172 on you for that I suspect they aren't interested much in anything you say.
