Transport canada test vehicle? WTF

Read the rest of the ad:

Known Issues declared by the client department:

  • This motorcycle was used for for noise emissions and brake testing purposes. All parts that were deemed damaged/obsolete as a result of the testing such as the brake pads, battery or motor oil have been replaced.

It's a normal thing. When I was working for a couple of the motorcycle manufacturers we would have to

a) Send in a sample vehicle to be tested for compliance when we wanted to bring a new vehicle into the country

or

b) Sometimes be randomly asked to supply a vehicle for testing for compliance.

This is a part of why we typically don't get any motorcycles that the United States don't already get. We can get around some compliance stuff, if the vehicle is already compliant in the United States. Otherwise the costs of testing/compliance aren't cheap, so they have to know they're going to sell a lot of units to bring something different in.

It's part of what made us getting the CBR125R in Canada, when they didn't get it in the US really cool:
Honda believed in that bike's potential in our market enough to say Yes, we will pay the money for this vehicle to be tested for compliance, even in this drop in the bucket sized market called Canada.

To be clear, if a bike is California compliant, it'll be Canada compliant. Their stuff is all more strict. So if a bike has already been tested and passed down south, Canadian distributors can just forward the compliance info to the feds here, and avoid the costs they would otherwise have incurred... until/unless the feds randomly decide they want to do some testing... which seems to be what happened here.

Beautiful 2009 Triumph T100 for $5k w/ 20k km ... if I had room ... Log into Facebook

Not much of a deal but good starting price for negotiating down.
Edit: I guess the title is "reasonably priced" so, yeah, my bad, fair enough, it's reasonable... I wouldn't pay it... but reasonable :)

I sold my 2009 last year for $5,500 with a new set of tires, and I think 10k km, for $5,500. He gave me an extra $300 to deliver it to buttfuck nowhere because no one in Toronto wanted to spend $5.5k on a 15 year old Bonneville, even with it having half the miles of this one.

Maybe with it being spring time someone with more money than patience sees it and gets excited and he gets it sold, but, they're a harder sell than you'd think. A lot of people don't have $5k+ lying around for a 15 year old motorcycle, and those that do can often spend a couple grand more and get a ten year newer used model...

My Buddy went in for a heart operation and didn't make it out alive. His widow has been hanging on to this bike to pass it on to his son in another province. After a year the son has realized that with a busy career and a young family, he hasn't got the time to come get the bike, let alone ride it. The widow knows nothing about bikes, so I have volunteered to try to help her sell it. I have no idea what a reasonable price would be. What do you guys think it's worth? It's a 2016 800 TXC, meticulously maintained.

Market is definitely going down and I see tons of bikes listed forever but yeah I bet he'd take $4k ... seems reasonable enough for me to be honest but details like age of tires are important.

Calling @mimico_polak :)

Photographed at GP Bikes.
Yeah I see the logo bottom right now that you mention it. That's odd. Wonder if he bought it from there (and kept the photos) and is now selling it. Or GP has it on consignment but never knew they did that if so.
