We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Nobody ever got shot.
Because people weren't so dumb. If I grabbed a gun and did dumb things with it, &^% would get real very quickly.

There are no real guns in my house now (no license, no need for them, my wife grew up in the city and doesn't want them, I don't have a big enough safe, etc) but even when my kids are playing with nerf guns I give them crap for flagging people without eye protection, keeping their finger on the trigger, etc..

Not being a dumbass is pretty easy if that is the path you want to follow. If you want to be a dumbass, banning thousands of pages more long guns will not impact a single handgun crime (which is almost all of them).

Unfortunately there are no consequences or repercussions for people that do dumb things with guns. Law abiding gun owners get punished instead by virtue signalling politicians that don’t know which end of a gun is up. Makes for great headlines and soundbites. We don’t have a gun problem, we have a legal system problem that can’t or won’t enforce laws we already have.

It was my father in laws , he very briefly joined the OPP in the late sixties , he carried it in the trunk of his cruiser to shoot groundhogs while on rural patrol. He was using his issued revolver but when asked why he needed a box of shells a week when he reported no incidents … he bought the twenty two. The OPP suggested he go back to the navy after about yr one . So he did . He was that guy ….

Wow, this gives the libs the tenous ammunition they need to ban all things that go bang. Someone finally used an antique firearm for crime. For those members with more knowledge, any thoughts on age of gun?

Anywhere from 1880 to 1910 ish ? Exposed hammers in the curved style , most likely twelve gauge , barrels look like Damascus . It could make a big hole in something .

Didn't I see that in 'lock stock and 2 smoking barrels'?

That looks like an old hardware grade 12 ga. sidexside that someone has sawed the buttstock off of.
'Might not even be proofed for modern smokeless powder... ie it'll blow up
Doesn't really matter if it's functional or not... It'll snag buddy a couple of firearms charges

He's already on probation for violent crimes. He doesn't have a home and obviously isn't at all interested in laws or public safety. I'm sure the government will use that as the opportunity to release him so his rights aren't violated while banning more guns.

Like cars and bikes, every gun has a story. That's a good one. My Dad bought a new Marlin model 39A, ser. # D23764, on Valentine's Day 1948. It was an excellent rifle and highly accurate. I wanted that gun ever since I was a little kid. In February 1998 when he was getting old he finally decided it was time to give it to me. Someone must have been watching him. While transporting it from his storage place to home, someone smashed the window of his parked van in northwest Toronto and stole it. It was within one day of Valentine's Day. I'm still looking for it, or at least one like it.

If my dad were here this would spur an hour lecture , guns travel on a carriage or are set upon a fixture , carbines , rifles and muskets are carried by foot soldiers . So when the news reported , the suspect pulled a gun, my Dad would say , he must have been the size of a Clydesdale, I hated my childhood .
