Dellan Millard and his buddy with the prior petty offences, Mark Smich, murdered and incinerated two people, joked about it, made rap lyrics about it and never once showed any remorse to even the families in court. They are inherently evil. To top it off Millard also murdered his father as he slept.
The two of them should receive capital punishment.

Add Bernardo to the list. I'm not in favour of capital punishment but would not want to see resources wasted on any of them.

Alternate jurors were not designated until they were sent to deliberate. They had 4 extra jurors and no one knew who was to be classified as an alternate until the last moment before deliberating.
It is done so that "alternates" don't sit eating popcorn and that all jurors are engaged in process.

Unless a person has studied the way slavery worked it is hard to understand the centuries old legacies that modified Afro-American culture.
Imagine a white couple being told that one spouse was being sold and the marriage annulled. The seller dictated where the children went. At a given age they could be sold as well.
Imagine being mated to produce a labour force tuned to the task.
Imagine your children being sold.
Imagine being forbidden to learn to read or write, therefore being unable to record your family tree or fight unfair laws.
I can trace my ancestry back to the early 1700's Scotland. A descendant of a slave might be able to go back a bit but the early records are of their parents being items on a bill of sale or auction site.
It would be interesting to compare the attitudes of slave descendants to those of recent immigrants from Africa.
Italians were discriminated against here in the 1950s but they knew that back in Italy they were respected trades people, chefs, businessmen etc. They rode out the bad times and have prospered. Slavery destroyed the history and culture the blacks would have had in Africa.

And how do you explain how violent , backwards and poor black run African countries are? Those people were not sent over to America to be enslaved in fact those peoples ancestors captured and sold the people who were sent over to America.

You can play the imagine game with virtually any civilization or race that has ever walked the earth. For much of human history life was terrible.
Afro-Americans are not the only group of people that have endured hardship.

Recent immigrants from Africa are rich and largely very educated. The .1% group.
Italians were discriminated here, the Irish, Chinese, Vietnamese etc etc were discriminated in the US. All were able to prosper. Viet's came to the US on boats with $1 in their pockets. Italians came here in the 50s and 60s with $100.
Anywhere you find different groups of people you are going to find discrimination and racism to some degree. There is less of it in the west.
If you are a "minority" in a country outside of the west you better have power through wealth..
Cultures are different.
Jews had arguably the worst history yet always prosper. They instill the idea of responsibility at a young age. Place emphasis on knowledge, education and community.
