Since T.O. is in lockdown are they limiting ridership and enforcing mask wearing on the TTC?

Maybe they need those buses from the third world countries. If you need fresh air so much you can't wear a mask you ride on the roof.

Insanity...

Waterloo region apparently going into the red zone next week which caps indoor gatherings to 5 people.

Yet there are no passenger caps on our buses or LRT and the maskless Covidiots are still on board in droves. Sigh... Wing, this is literally your tax dollars at work:

And 'essential' stores, like Home Depot (hahaha), remain open with NO limit on customers (at least not that I have read about yet). All the smaller stores that rely on Xmas business to stay alive are now closed until Dec 21. Guess everyone is getting power tools and lightbulbs for presents this year. Oh wait, we can all still shop at Walmart too as they sell groceries so are open as well. Pajamas and socks !!!

What a crock of @#$%. Lock it all down or leave it be.
I believe they can operate at 50% capacity or something something.

either lock the damn thing down, or don’t.

Can’t have it both ways. But find a way to support those you keep from working to survive during the time. Not everyone is able to save a few months emergency funds....by choice or circumstance.

Even if they had emergency funds, many people burned those and more during the first lockdown. They were working on reducing debt when back to work and didnt have enough time or cashflow to rebuild the war chest yet.

Got called down to an emergency job at a large manufacturer tonight. Typical screening before you print your guest badge. Then you have to download their company app (66 MB) and go through screening again in the app. If the app is concerned, you get a red light and walk across the parking lot to a trailer where they test you and give you results while you wait. I didnt know reliable rapid testing had rolled out yet but apparently it has. Safety glasses and masks together suck.

fog ahoy!

Welcome to my pain. Glasses wearer.

I’m starting to figure out the best way to adjust the nose pieces and other tricks to avoid fogging as best as possible, but ugh, it’s going to be a long winter.

It's called contact lenses and they work awesome,
they never fog up, never get smudged and provide far better acuity.

Got to put mine in right now so I can go riding.

Believe it or not...
But, give your glasses a good cleaning with soap and water.
Dry thoroughly.
Apply Pledge (yes, the furniture polish).
Polish with a micro fibre cloth.
Done.

It's a trick most hockey referees use to keep their visors from fogging up.

They also don't work well for everyone, including people with my particular eye issue and prescription requirements like me.

I had contacts. The bothered my eyes and I found them uncomfortable and irritating. I also have dry eyes so they would often "stick" to my eyeballs and I'd have to rub them to get them to release. Then they'd be upside down or sideways for a few minutes until they reoriented themselves and I couldn't see jack **** in the meantime.

Never could wear them riding either - the contacts and my eyes would dry out, I'd rub them or blink furiously (and that'd often bring on watery eyes) and next thing you know, I can't see again.

Try them again in this century, sounds like you experimented with hard ones, the soft daily use ones are great.
By not work for everyone I assume you are referring to correction for astigmatism and if you have that much astigmatism to correct, holy that must suk. ... what's your script?

You should not rub your eyes ever, lenses in or not.

... did you know: If your vision deteriorates badly enough, some people need to wear contact lenses in combination with glasses.
You can do that too, correct your far sight vision with your contacts and wear prescription readers for up close, that will address your astigmatism concerns too :geek:

get a mask that you can either pull tight at the ears or has a very well designed nose 'clip'. once it's tight to the nose you can put the glasses on top and be fog free.

Yes, it's astigmatism.

Yes, it's bad. Has been since it was 5 and my parents finally realized why I was sucking so bad in school....it was because I couldn't see jack **** the teacher was writing on the board.

And no, contacts don't work for me, I've tried soft as well. Lots of people are in the same boat - they are not universally a thing for everyone.

I took a scrap piece of aluminum duct and cut a strip a bit wider than the one that came with the mask. Using hot melt glue I doubled up so the strip holds shape better. It seems to help.

Someone suggested the stuff scuba divers use on their masks. I only did snorkel and spit worked for it but not for Covid shopping.

Yeah you really need a good fitter when you have to have toric lenses.
The price isn't much to sneeze at, either.
The guy I had was the only one that my ophthalmologist would allow to fit me.
He's long since retired now, and the discount places are set up for easy fittings.
The benefit is that they're so thick that they're easier to get in.

Otherwise, she said just wear glasses.
Little brother ended up with a regular lenses up on top of his eyeball once while driving. He had to go to emerg. to get it taken out.
He also ended up with polyps at one point. Lenses were too small.

I like what Edmonton has done, they have a bylaw that says to get service without a mask you need a medical exemption AND you have to wear an exemption card when in public places covered by their mask bylaw.

No card, no mask, no service.

Costco changed their policy. All people entering (over two years old) must wear a mask. If you cannot wear a mask for medical reasons you must wear a face shield. No entry allowed without a mask or face shield. No exceptions.

I think the lockdowns should be by the sampling zones. Brampton is a clusterfuck, York Region has a few messy communities, Concord, Cornell, Milliken, and Woodbridge, North York, North Etobicoke, Malton, & East Scarborough are a mess. I'd prefer to see these places in complete lockdown, like they did in Australia and many European cities. Close all businesses, stay home, curfew, can't leave your neighborhood.

The surrounding communities that have done a good job but are in the same city or municipality should net be penalized for the bad behaviour of a few.
