Between cutting funding for autistic kids, the inability to negotiate school openings, and the piss poor job of safe reopening of schools, I know a LOT of parents that hate this guy's guts

Parents are now opting for online classes as they have little confidence in Leece and the lack of safety measures put in(been hearing from teachers on social media)

and there is a sudden surge in online classes, that might overwhelm the IT infrastructure:

You can’t please all of the people all of the time. Are the issues mentioned big enough to have the winds of change being in the NDP or Libs?

It’s easy to arm chair quarterback but, I think Dougie has been on point with his responses to most things.

What I find amusing is the teachers unions fighting on line learning before COVID-19 and now they are embracing it.

The teachers beat whatever drum will give them the best return on minimal effort. I don't blame them, I'd be on that program as well.

The Dougler is walking an uncharted path here , NOBODY knows how this will play out going forward, was there trouble negoitating school openings?? should there have needed to be negoitation? that's the bigger question in my mind.
Kick the guy if you need to but he is listening to scientists and doctors and making calls based on the advise of medical professionals . There is no playbook on how to handle this, its new every month. I'm not sure anyone else in charge would be any better or worse, but at least he listens to advice.

not listening to ALL of the medical professionals...opinions vary and are politically influenced, although they will deny this.
I would prefer if doug erred on the side of safety when dealing with our children.
I have little doubt there will be school outbreaks of covid in the future

people say what they want about china, but strict measures in wuhan quickly turned covid around
half hearted attempts are a waste of time and resources.

Listening to everbody is impossible. There is obviously a range of opinions even among well qualified advisors (and those opinions may be related to politics or science or life experience). Ultimately Douggie can listen to "all" medical professionals to help him formulate questions for Dr. Williams but then Williams provides his reponse to Douggie and it sounds like Douggie accepts whatever that position is. Douggie is not listening to all, he is listening to Williams.

I agree, half-ass shutdowns are annoying and not that effective. I hope they implement regional shutdowns shortly on the hotspots and slam the door hard to convey the seriousness of behaving recklessly. Use the Oz model and only allow one person out of the house for one hour per day and they must not travel more than 5 km from their house. For the entitled uni kids, I have no problem with the schools identifying those behaving like idiots and banning them from campus for a semester. If you were in res, too bad, go home and grow up while doing distance ed.

The kids are fine, they always were going to be. You could jam a hundred of the little f******** in a room and all would be well...with them...for now. The issue is other people. Parents, teachers, grandparents, anyone the kids come into contact with.

If they were totally serious about this then you'd hire all the teachers on the wait lists so classes are tiny. Use all the unused rooms at universities and colleges around the country. Put some classes online etc.

I still think Ford is doing what he can right now. Parents are a hard bunch to please.

One thing to add though....we still don't know what the long term effects of COVID are. The kids may be fine now.....what happens in 10-15 years time though?

Not sure what he can do there really is no effective way to control it in school either open up and deal with it or shut the whole thing down. The so called protective measures are just to pretend you are doing something.

This is a common misconception, the kids are fine in that they dont die like grandparents or parents might, but new diseases are much like a new software or new model car, there are bugs, or problems people dont initially know about or anticipate:

(from medical researchers, not a tinfoil blog)

There are infact serious life long health problems children will encounter if infected with COVID

Explain it to me. If it's silly it should be easy to do so.
Look if you’re going to troll my every post cause of your thin skin and getting hurt feelings than don’t reply to me

On the contrary, I asked you to back up something you stated. You don't seem to be able to.

Sure i can, hard for politics to distance from education when they fund it
