2020 MotoGP Discussion (NO LINKS)

I think Rossi might have had the best "papa" day ever. His vr46 riders finished 1 2 in GP and moto2. Also I dare say the Marini is ready for GP as well, with Bezzechi well on his way too.

Pity he could not make the podium.

That was a nail biter!!

That was the slowest seeming race all year so far for me. Moto3 was once again delvering the best race, I have to go back to Moto2 later.

All I have to say is if Dovi doesn't win it this year, he really only has himself to blame and he really should consider testing or comentating.

Haha! Same can be said for your man Vinales.

Every Sunday it's something with him. Whether it is wrong choice of tires or having a motorcycle catapulted at his helmet...

Ok. Unpopular opinion.... moto3 is becoming a race for me where I can just hop to the last few laps amd see who wins from there. Most of the race in the middle is a seesaw of riders being up front and falling behind - on track action no doubt but the passes don't really hold a lot of weight which is why only the last few laps usually matter

I feel bad for him, knowing that he's capable of more. It seems like the 2020 factory bike just isn't working for him (or Petrucci for that matter), while the Pramac boys seem to be getting on just fine. Regardless, whoever wins, I'm loving every bit of this season.

Agreed. I said he needs to leave Yamaha, the project simply didn't work out for him. It may have been the smart move after Suzuk but it just never went his way after te opening rounds of 2017. And even though Fabio hasn't been doing as well as he had before Brno his style is just more compatible with a JLO style bike.

His composure on the grid was already looking unsettled ahead of the race, he was shaking his head and genrally looking upset at the mechanics when it appeared his fairings/aero had to be adjusted and they were changing the tires at the same time probably making the tire decision poorly timed. He just looks defeated, and makes me fear he could end up exactly like Dovi as this is his 5th season already.

I could have seen him taking a pay cut to break his contract at Yamaha and jump on Dovi's Ducati next year after it was announced he would be leaving in Austria, but for whatever reason he wants to see this project out. At this rate we will never get to see the proper Marquez vs Maverick fight(s) and instead Marc will more likely be fighting with the 'new generation' riders: Fabio/Mir/Rins/Binder/Pecco/Miller/Fraco

Mir was looking like the turd in punch bowl on the podium

That was a proper last lap lunge that he would do in Moto3 when he would carve up the field for the victory that made me a fan. Honestly I think Mir could be a contender for the title this year if he keeps this up. Everyone doubted him in the beginning of the season, but if he works on his qualy (just follow Mav apparently) I could see him fighting for race wins more often if he is in the front line.

That's just Moto3, which makes it super exciting, perhaps the most in all of gran prix, in my opinion. The guy on pole isn't necessarily going to be in the top 10, and the guy in the back could win the race given how those races are. Today's race being a prime example of the latter.

So disappointed in the KTM boys... really shat the bed.
Oh well, what can you do.

I will admit, friends and I were all cheering for Rossi to get his 200th podium - just want to see him hit that milestone - a feather in his cap that almost no-one else will ever match.

Looking at the time sheets this AM the Yamaha SRT boys are 1-2. I can't remember a time ever that a satellite team in totality has outperformed the factory team. Currently SRT has 127 points; Factory has 116

Edit: lord... same season Honda LCR 60 - Factory 15

What a crazy GP race. It's amazing how doing a back to back race at the same track yields completely different results.

Devastating for 63, but great weekend for 12. 36 has really gotten fast. Only 4 points separates the top 4 riders in the championship! Unbelievable.

Mir is looking sharp, for sure

this was the first race where, to me, the MM void was glaring

edit: was just reading Pramac found a visor tear-off
from FQ inside Miller's air box, some awfully bad luck

How so?

Well, it may be offtrack but his presence will be felt this weekend. Luckily reason prevails and he will not be joining the grid until Portugal and we can continue with this crazy season.

just me I guess
previous races were ultra competitive
while MM certainly would have been in the mix
don't think he would have won them all

this race?
he would would have dominated and won
Mav was close to lapping the backmarkers
MM would have lapped half the field

Rossi re-signs with Yamaha with a 1 year contract, but will ride with Petronas next year. He will be on factory spec equipment.
