H-D has a new boss

OIF (Oil In Frame) was far from an original idea, Triumph and BSA did that in 1971.
Bultaco and Yamaha built chain oilers right into the swingarm.

To this day I see so many of you guys lamenting Buell, and why Harley Davidson never had (and still doesn't have) any interest in hi-sport racing cycles. It's not because they can't, it's because they WON'T. Willie G. Davidson was very open and clear about it: it's not worth the money you put into it. The profit margins on big cruisers and touring bikes are much better. When there are 10 other sport bike makers in the market, why are so many disappointed that HD won't make one? If they ever do it will be reluctantly. It's just not their style.

It's called CYA. Because some lawyer somewhere would otherwise try to sue them if someone put something stupid on there (IE, (Drink bleach, it cures Covid!") and in the 90 seconds it's live on the site before someone deletes it, some doofus comes along, takes it as fact, and drinks bleach.

I stand fast on my opinion that it in no way means that the overwhelming majority of content there is to be lumped in as automatically incorrect accordingly. To the contrary the overwhelming majority of content there is factual and well vetted.

So what is correct and what is accurate . When the site tells you it's not accurate . Their lawyers are telling you they are not accurate . Yet you still defend it . Ok then .I like your optimism .

I posted a challenge earlier to dig up (for example) 10 motorcycle related Wikipedia entries and post the high percentage of errors and misinformation that some seem to perceive is the norm there.

I notice nobody has taken me up on that offer.

Gasoline in the frame (right next to a very HOT motor and engine oil in the swingarm didn't really work out.
I watched an XB12R Buell catch fire at a MOTO-ST race in Daytona because the fuel percolated during a pit stop and vaporized to the point of spontaneous combustion.
The swingarm would get equally warm to the point that the rider's boots were becoming very uncomfortable and melting.
The perimeter brake would heat up, then warp and transfer the heat into the rim causing premature damage to that side of the tire.
People caught on that these weren't good things, yet Eric persisted - to his ultimate detriment.

Some pretty eye opening posts in the comments section of that video from a lot of HD faithful who are losing the faith.

Most people have better things to do . Then play catch me if you can . If you believe in Wiki then good for you . But don't try to sell your opinion to people that can read a disclaimer . Wiki is for entertainment only .

to be fair, going back on forth on this hardly qualifies. you could do the legwork and just put it to bed.

just like i did regarding being ticketed in a municipal HOV lane.

Except he can't which is why he's deflecting. But whatever, he wins...everything without exception on Wikipedia is hereby wrong.

I put it to bed when I posted the disclaimer .

Does RFD have a disclaimer or is everything posted there 100% factual? :sneaky:

This sums up HD

You can sum up this video like this: "I'll never forgive Harley for selling bikes too expensive for me to afford."

There. That's it. I mean, ask yourself what kind of obsessive crybaby goes to the trouble of making a video to whine about a motorcycle manufacturer they'll never be able to buy? Just one long negative diatribe of "They're going bankrupt. Look, all the numbers show it! It's all Harley's fault because they won't sell cheaper bikes! And besides, they're no good anyway. Everything else is better value..."

If everything else is better, why make a video complaining about Harleys? Yamaha is better right? Or is this just another bitter dude who never got to buy the bike he always dreamed about? They're not cheap bikes. They haven't been the working man's bike since the 1970s. No, you'll never get one for the price of a Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda. Life's not fair. Now get over it.
