How many cases before Ontario/Toronto shuts down all non essential jobs? I give it 2-3 weeks when cases in the city reach 1000+

I sure hope it doesn't come to that. Im praying we have the step ahead necessary to prevent a complete lock down. The Italians (amongst others) didn't listen, you cant tell them what to do, they're Italian.

Chinas people listened, because they had to.....

Ive been out for small walks in my neighbourhood (keeping my distance yes) and its like a ghost town compared to what it would normally be like, at yonge and eglinton on a day like today the streets would be flourishing with people out and about. Not today. So.....we .....for the most part.....are getting the message it seems.

Agreed but unfortunately if work continues so will transmission...construction sites, factories, offices etc all still going. It’s inevitable at this point

Ok, Now if our dollar does not suddenly increase in value relative to the US something is very wrong with the system.

Isnt transmission inevitable now that its here? I thought keeping the curve at a manageable level was the ultimate goal. And with an educated population on board with safe daily practices I think it would be ok to continue at 1/4 pace for a few months.

Not sure how 200+ people on a construction site without running water or how people packed in cubicles unable to work from home can the take proper safety precautions. And I meant that it’s inevitable that the city will have a shutdown..

I guess Im over optimistic that people can go about a daily routine and practice safe actions.

Whether it be construction sites, cubicles, store fronts.....things can be done to prevent spread. I mean the virus doesn't just jump over cubicles or travel along steel beams used to build condos etc......there ARE things that can be practiced.....it takes team effort and discipline (my routine might be considered OCD, but I think Im doing well), but I guess thats too much to ask of everyone.

I see your point sir.

You can't be going 1/4 pace the way we were,
country needs to be going full pace in the direction of creative ways to function, under adverse circumstances.

Geez once this is over cant wait to see whats next coming out of china...lol This does tend to happen when you eat everything crawling around on this earth.

High rises all have elevators. How do you get thousands of people up and down to and from work and home while keeping them six feet apart. Stairs might work for a few people for a few floors but there isn't much fresh air.

What a weak an wimpy response from our PM today..
A plane full of people coming in and he states that all will be SELF quarantined.....he should lock these people up no holds barred.......what a wimpy response. Our PM is a .......

I'm not a doctor but I do know that viruses rely on species-specific DNA in their host. The coronavirus from a human could very easily be breathed in by some other animal, but it won't do anything unless it finds cell structures and DNA that are close enough. This is why your dog can't catch a human cold (also a coronavirus). Non-human primates (apes, chimps, etc) MAY have DNA that is close enough.
So now the dog is a virus carrier or it even thrives in his lungs without affecting him  how is that going to be one bit better for the dog
or the apes and the chimps and the etcetera?

The virus doesnt just jump onto you, dont touch the elevator with your hands, use the tip of your key, dont get in if its more than a few people.....etc.....common sense.

I dont know, just thinking out loud here.

Doin a good job and expecting the people to conduct themselves appropriately without forced intervention at this point.

For this... you will either get it and build some sort of immunity, you will get a vaccine, or you will die... History and science have proven this out, time and time again. Now if history and science are not your thing...

The current measures are all about maximizing the first category without crushing the hospital system in the process,...

No you were like me and thought that sense was common. I been doing all that stuff since I can remember.

That's not how it works. The dog can breathe in the virus, and the virus particle may even land on one of the cells in the dog's lungs, but it can't replicate, because the DNA isn't a match to the DNA pattern that is capable of replicating it. Nothing happens. That particular virus particle can't even be breathed out again.

Wow, but I sure hope you are right and I am totally wrong on this one because I love my dog.
