Lane splitting

I don't think that matters much -- a Ninja 300 is gonna get 10m ahead and have choice of lanes when pitted against of 99% of the cars on the road.
I'm certain I could beat most cars off the line and I'm also certain it will look like street racing to any cop watching.
Even more so if one of the cars jump the green light slightly.

but then it's a false start. so that car loses automatically.

oh wait..

I spent like an hour reading the HTA last night. There's no law about it specifically, but you can be dinged for a lot, mostly around doing things in an unsafe manner that is totally up to the cop that sees it.
After reading it, I feel like it's pretty unlikely you should get a ticket for filtering in a slow and safe manner. I'm still not going to do it, or very rarely.
I don't lane split, but when its 30c+ outside and there is stand still traffic at a light I do filter quite often. I was filtering on Brant street the other month when there was that huge accident on the QEW near the skyway. Filtered past 2 cruisers and they didn't do anything. I have had friends that have had that "OH SCHIT" moment while filtering past a cop and they haven't bothered doing anything about it (maybe because they can't move in the traffic and just see you go bye-bye). I don't believe that lane splitting is safe here in the GTA, or Canada as a whole, but I don't see anything wrong with filtering. If the cars can't move, what are they gong to do....open a door to knock you off your bike and damage their own vehicle? Highly doubtful.

It's been legal in California and Utah followed now, how long before the rest follow? The thing with it is if you don't feel it's safe, no one is forcing you to do it like you can just ride as you usually would.

Get ready to wait.

I wonder how many pieces that guy will be in when his luck runs out some day.

HIs last video posted was 8 months ago called "I'm still alive". Nothing since. Maybe it finally did.

I suspect he's likely dead by now - what a complete moron.

I was afraid to watch it all did anybody open their car door?

In all my gear
Stop and go commute
At 30+ C
I'm sweating

And if i get lucky and pass a few buses/semis and what not, their exhausts can get quite hot (and so does mine).

I haven't gotten to that stage but i'm sure at some point i'll be scared of heatstroke and will end up filtering at some point.

Bet he made it to the church on time ?

Well, it's happened...some doofus ran into the back of a cube van yesterday while splitting.

So yeah, if it ever comes up as a topic of conversation at the MTO anytime soon you want to bet this particular accident will be mentioned.

Watched 2 guys splitting this morning. With panniers on top of it. Impressive feat.

I enjoyed the view of the lake instead. And took the extra 2 minutes it takes me to get to work. Just couldn't be bothered this morning
