Saturday June 29th to Tuesday. Weather looks okay ...we were looking to leave Friday but weather sucks.

Will stop at one of my fav spots - Letchworth State Park 246 km out

a very nice day ride for anyone interested. - can include Niagara Falls etc.

I'll get lynched if I take too much time off but friend from Aus wants to see some scenery and drop in on the Smithsonian Aerospace section at Dulles Airport.

Anyone know if PA 522 is worthwhile?

Might do the Skyline Drive too the next day.
Skyline Drive in Virginia

I'll turn north then but Eamonn might continue further.
If he comes back with me we will do the better PA roads. 144 etc.

Suggestions welcome.

It's funny....going to Letchworth to camp with the Family and Corning is on the list for the Tuesday if it rains. Great area.
Enjoy!

A bit out of your way but we recently toured the Aviation Museum in Dayton, OH. 5 massive hangers and it's free. Highly recommend for anyone interested in anything air-related for military/NASA.

Decided this would be motorcycle road day and do 219 to Coudersport and 144 through Renovo for lunch ending at State College for the night. 500 pretty KM with a hot tub at the end. T-storm to dodge,

I've flown one aircraft that is part of the collection as representative of modern sailplanes,.

I suspect my riding partner who flew fighters in the military and commercial jets until this year can lay claim to a few more.

But that's tomorrow...today is for riding the PA twists. Will be fun as we have SENAs hooked up.

We asked why they have a plastic “shield”in front of the Enola Gay cockpit glass. The museum staff explained it was to keep people from spitting on it from the top mezzanine. That is an amazing museum. I have lots of pictures as there are so many amazing planes. The Skunkworks stealth fighter was something else.

Where do you eat in Renovo? Yesterday’s?

Rob

Yesterdays but not this time

At Front Royal

Brought wrong charger will fix tomorrow ,.got a bit wet ...144 was lovely

I passed the world famous MacDoc, not far from Fort Erie, on the QEW early Saturday morning while aboard my Tiger on the way to Watkins Glen.

Hope you had a good ride.

New owner of Vstrom 650 and saw your post. inspired me to start to plan a trip down to the USA. Came up with a route sort of like this. Niagara Falls to Niagara Falls . Totally new at this so appreciate any thoughts , suggestions to make the most of my first big trip. Also any thoughts on a realistic number of days - I dont want to just blast through - more of a leisurely cruise i was thinking

That's a pretty nice route.
A few roads you might enjoy:
On your way south and while in Pennsylvania, just west of Renovo, take the PA#4001 road through Kettle Creek - it's a pretty sweet road and there is a nice lake and rest stop for a break.
On your way north and leaving Roanoke, take the VA#311 up to White Sulphur Springs. This is a great road. Then scoot over to Lewisburg WV and then take the 219 all the way north, through Monongahela National Forest and up to Redhouse MD (just north of the forest) and then scoot over eastward along the #50 until you are at the #220 to continue north toward home.

Put Staunton to Elkins on that list ....wow .....the tight cambered curves are incredible.
More soon ...long day - home at 8

Macdoc...etc. all...you can get right down to the BRP from at least the cobourg area not on a highway if you spend a bit of time with a map. I have explored many different routes to get down there.

Spent many years exploring WV,I'm very familiar with the state. Excellent riding g in Ohio. Check out the AMA museum.

Skyline drives prices have gone up. I'm heading back down shortly then again in September

Is it something wrong with my Google Maps or are you skipping Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway on this trip? Skyline Drive has been freshly paved recently and is one of the smoothest scenic rides I’ve been to recently.

Was Eamonn's fav as well. PA 144 pavement superb end to end as well.

He's got Skyline on there. But malamute you should include a stop at

Enola Gay is there, Concorde, space shuttle and SR71 and hundreds more and you can avoid getting too near Washington traffic.

If you can't ...enjoy our photos
