Craft Beer: What are you drinking now??

Had this beauty from New Brunswick...a nice, easy drinking double IPA from Off Grid Ales IMG_1721.JPG

FIZZY BLASTER

BARREL AGED DOUBLE SOUR ALE w/APRICOT, PLUM & VANILLA
In the dead of an extraordinarily ominous winter last year, a vision came to us out of the darkness -- a pure beacon of light, in beer form. An effervescent, mind-bending, electric shock capable of resuscitating our frozen hearts, and crestfallen minds. Our task? Translate the profound intensity of a laser beam into a bottle of beer.
Introducing our newest beer series and antidote for the unknown: humans, meet Fizzy Blaster, a barrel aged, double sour, with apricot, plum, and vanilla. The acidity level is unsubtle, the fruit flavour is vivid, the experience is over-the-top. It’ll put a zing in your step! Electrify your tastebuds! Zip zap your palate!
ABV: 6%
What it smells like, what it tastes like: Bold acidity is met with intense flavours of apricot, baking spice, plum skin and cereal marshmallow. Dry finish, with tight carbonation and a touch of cedar.

Town puts out some very decent core brews, and does lots of experimental stuff as well.

Also check out Little Beasts just a few minutes away as well.

Erin the owner/head brewer is super cool and they do a lot of great beers too

Prince Eddy's - C.R.E.A.M. Ale

Great summer beer from Prince Edward County (the only thing I enjoyed at a hipster restaurant in Picton).

Rorschach Malevolent Benevolence (S'mores version).
- much better than the Churro version. Balanced chocolate and coffee notes and a hint of burnt marshmallow.

Rorschach Pomegranate Lager.
- much too sweet. Almost like they just added grenadine syrup into the kegs post brew.

Brock St Blueberry Wheat.
- not a fan. Odd flavors. The color though is incredible!

La barberie, and noctem are good

In Quebec City. Masses of microbrews here. Separating the wheat from the chaff is the hardest part. In the name of science I’ll give it another go tonight.

I’m a big fan of Dieu du Ciel and Trou du Diable

I saw those ones and have had a few before. I had an amazing ginger wheat beer from Corsair microbrewery based here in Lévis. Served ice cold it was fantastic on a hot day. One of my favourite beers so far on this trip. Not too gingery, just right.

Stopped at Costco in Lévis. 18 mixed Unibrou bottles for $20.99. Insane. Just over a buck a bottle and the mix includes 4 different 8%s and above including one of my favourites that’s been hard to get of late on its own, Raftmans. Got some Alchemist Scottish Ale and a few others too. Lots of choice. Also bought 7 bottles of their (Costco) wine which is relabelled top shelf stuff that gets great reviews.

Lynx pilsner from Le Coureur des Bois microbrewery. Really good lager. I wish I'd have cooled it down a bit more but this way I can taste it better. Pictured with free Ride the Highlands railway spike bottle opener.

Last night shared a few with some friends...

Rorschach Malevolent Benevolence (Mint Choc version)
- a little too heavy on the mint for me, but otherwise a very nice stout. ...the S'mores vers. is still my favorite of the series.

5 Paddles Vulgar Artist Imp. Stout w/vanilla, maple, blueberry and lactose.
- really liked this one. It was very balanced with every one of the adjuncts identifiable, and one not overpowering the others.

Fairweather Modus Sour DIPA
- Incredible! Absolutely amazing!

Fairweather Donna Pils.
- clean and crisp. Nothing special about it.

Redline Air Ride APA
- decent. Nothing that set it apart from others.

Clifford Brewing Pinball Wizard APA.
- Meh...

Clifford Brewing Dark Streets of London ESB
- not a fan of this one, or this style of beer.

Love the Fairweather stuff.

I usually like “bitter” style English ales as they tend to be well balanced and not too hoppy. Not everyone does them well though, sometimes they get a bit sweet tasting.

Tried the Flying Monkeys Killer Cupcake Panda DIPA today. Wasn't overly good.

Also tried their Dark Side of the Roast Coffee Porter. This one was good.

Bump for summer beer love. This stuff is in high rotation for me right now. What an excellent hot summer day beer

. And I love its hard core pint glass in my collection
bowdown2.gif
(thick heavy glass)... kept in the freezer
thumbup2.gif
.
Hoegaarden wheat beer (it's known for notable clove flavors as well). On tap it's an even more impressive summer beer.
