Ram 1500 Eco Diesel Review

Exactly. in 6 trips to grand bend, 2 of those hauling my trailer, 2 bikes and gear i got 13.5

In a gas pickup? That's pretty darn good.

That's still barely above what my gas CARS get. Our work trucks are 20+L/100km with next to nothing but 2 guys in them.

I basically do 90 km/h highway the whole tank. City driving i don't even bother calculating because I would lose sleep. But yeah it's really not bad

Hey guys, this one time, with hurricane winds at my back and me drafting a semi i got 5l/100km out of my monster truck! So yea, **** diesel.

How about realistic numbers?
Rolling through hills of Pannsylvania coming back from Harrisburg, doing 115km/h on cruise, pulling 5k in a double axle trailer, hand calculated 11.2l/km. Driving from Orangeville to Ottawa and back in a single day, handcalculated 8.2l/100km. When a 5200lb 2" lifted 4x4 suv gasser can do that while having 420ft/lbs of torque, give me a jingle.

Rofl. And why are you comparing a new truck as if someone bought it JUST for fuel mileage? Perhaps a new vehicle is needed? you can say the same thing about a 30k civic. And ive already pointed out that the ecodiesel can be had for $36k and not 60k.

Jeep has said the Wrangler will soon come with a Dodge eco diesel in the 4dr version. It should be pretty expensive off the lot, but given the terrible mileage (gas) of both the 2dr and 4dr Wrangler the eco diesel should jump right out front.

I
But still can't fathom paying 60K for a new truck.....

$45000 out the door,,, my gas savings is making my payments and banking me money. Compared to my V10 Triton
Averaged 17-18L/100 to Shuby and back pull my trailer,,,[it isn't small] Trying to break the 6.6L/100 not towing this weekend!!
That works out to just over 1200K on a tank. About $95 or less to fill a tank on average.

Your mielage is slightly better than mine and your trailer is a lot bigger. I'll say it again, I wish the ecodiesel was available when I bought my truck.

The work trucks must be getting driven like they are stolen as most work trucks do. I get 11L 100km on my 14 Sierra extended cab.
That was at 120 with cruise control, for the most part. My own numbers.

I've got a Saab 9-7x 2005 with the 5.3L V8 GM Vortec motor. The Saab 9-7x is a pretty face on a trailblazer.

I got a approximately 16L / 100km towing 2 bikes and trailer and a full load of gear in the truck going up and down the mountains trailering the 1400km from here to deals gap. This includes all the mileage spent travelling THRU the gap ... gawd that tank of gas was about 25L / 100km, worst tank ever.

Lifetime average (about 15,000 km) on my Ram ProMaster van is at 11.7 L/100 km and that includes one trailer-towing trip to Deals Gap and back with 2 bikes in the van and 2 on an open trailer (14.2 L/100 km on that trip). The van has one bike inside it for most of the rest of the time. I really can't complain about that.

3.6 V6 Pentastar gas engine with 6 speed automatic, 136" wheelbase, low roof. There is a diesel engine version, but it wasn't available at the time I bought, and with the relatively low annual mileage that I put on this van, it would never have paid back the extra initial cost.

One time I accidentally toggled onto the real time gas mileage indicator in my Tundra. It was crazy. 20L/100km minimum and it would jump to 30 when I stepped on the gas. I'm lucky that my employer pays for the fuel. I'm not sure that I would own it otherwise. That being said, the truck is a joy to drive with tons of power and it has been bulletproof in it's 250,000km life.

I've had mine now for almost a year

2015 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel Laramie 4X4

Great truck. Towing a trailer, just over 1000 lbs + 3 people + gear + A/C full blast = 8.9 litres per hundred. 406 KM trip cost me just under 30 dollars of fuel. My daily driver is a golf sportwagen tdi. I'll have to admit. The Golf TDI doesn't sound like a diesel, but it sure is refined. The Ecodiesel sounds and drives like a diesel.... Which I LOVE! Too bad it doesnt put smoke out like a diesel... :(

My friend bought the 14 and his engine went though.. so I will be keeping an eye on that engine!

GP Bikes owns a ram ecodiesel and they tow small motorcycle trailers with it. *shrug*
