Goodbye 250!

CB500x is sweet eh...there was a cheap used NC700 here in Cairns ...nicely outfitted at the Honda dealer ....almost zero k on it ( guy that bought it didn't like it ).

The salesman said that despite the low price on the NC700 - he'd had several CB500x come in and go out at full pop.

It is a winner from Honda and I'm surprised there are ANY on the used market.

MP could do a lot worse than snagging one of those on Honda Finance..

No finance on toys anymore :) If I can't pay cash for it, I'm not buying it! I've had a chance to check out a LOT of bikes recently and frankly many of them have liens and I don't want to have that hanging over my head.

The 500X is a very nice bike, maybe I can try and snag one soon. The ER6-N also very nice, but I think the 500X is the most all round bike I can find in my price range...

I am the same way now. I even try to pay cash for my cars. Nice to not have notes to pay every month.

Agree with both Zoodles and mimico, but like MacDoc stated, I think the rate is 1.9% for 24 months. If you are not debt free, and have the cash, makes sense to pay down other bills and finance.
Personally, I won't ever NEED a new vehicle.

I have bought new cars and that new car smell, feeling etc flees far quicker than the payments do. I have found happiness in buying two to four year old vehicles. If I cannot pay for them with cash or want something more expensive then I try to keep my amortization schedule within 36 months. That being said, I was not in this position in my 20s.

It blows my mind that people would amortize stuff over 8 years or more...

Yeah, honda had 1.9% financing on the 500 series up until December last year.

That was kind of a steal IMO
A few years ago was the time to buy. Yay for 0 percent financing

I pitched for the CB500x as an all arounder and OP had one on the go but the deal fell through.

For the smaller rider the other CB500s are a total treat.

Successor to the CB400f sold here in Aus and in Japan but not sure if it has VTech.

I got the red!

Seller of the X couldn't/wouldn't honour the deal so I said I'm ok with that and moved on. Ah well....maybe another time. Hopefully picking up the F this weekend....now to kit it out to touring! I wish that my existing Givi racks would transfer over but will just sell em separate as the 250 is 95% sold.

Enjoy the F :)

windscreen might be an issue though with the F (from what i hear)

Did you have to do any additional maintanence other than the scheduled/preventative maintanence?
I sold mine at 45k and still missing it today <3

other than having to fix **** after crashing nothing out of the ordinary. Only done two valve checks, one adjustment and I'm even on the original battery at 90k and it fires up first time every try, today it took 2 tries but its been sitting for a couple months. Never had a SINGLE carb problem and I don't even winterize, I just ride.

You get a massive thumbs up from me keeping a bike (and a 250 at that) for 100k. Very respectable and cost conscious.

For me it wasn't much of a decision. It was my only choice, when I got it as a young noob my two options were 125 or 250, it was like deciding between a 600 or a liter for a seasoned rider. Insurance was doable but still high, SS were way out of the question. I always bought proper gear though and never skimped out on that, its really saved my *** and increased my longevity.

I crashed multiple times riding like goon and that never really saved me much money over the years, although it was not as costly as a SS and I've had to stick with it because of tons of tickets. Now its just a part of me, its not worth selling, or should I say I would never get my asking price.

Short of just blowing up its got better parts and is probably in better overall and mechanical condition than same bikes with 15-20k, but sitting at 90k on a 250 even though its the new gen I'd be lucky to get 2000 bucks. The memories and the sentimental value is just worth a whole lot more to me than a couple weeks pay.

That's awesome that you kept the bike so long! I actually considered doing that with the 250 but then a good offer came in on it from my cousin so I thought I'd give something else a try. I'm sure I'll enjoy my 500 even more than the 250 as it'll do more of the good things, plus those where the 250 fell a bit short.

MP, whether F, X, or R, make sure the recall work for the 500 is done.
