Help me choose, MV F4 or HP4 or 1199 Panigale R

The tricolore Ducatis are really sweet looking, and I can sit on them for almost 20 minutes at a time! I think my superbike seat is more comfortable, though.

Get the Bimmer. It's better for posing at Starbucks. Chicks won't have any idea what an Aprilia or an MV is. But that spinning propeller logo on the side of the bike? Gold!
 
Get whatever bike you like. 1000cc is easy to ride if you can respect it. They can suprise you quickly also so its all about throttle management. If you can keep the throttle in check then ignore the negativaty. BTW the F4 has the best sounding exhaust in the pack IMO.

Couldn't agree more. Check the Aprilia RSV4, amazing bike. Of all the bikes you listed, the MV sounds the best. Just like a F1 car when F1 cars sounded amazing (2013 and older).

When it cames to reliability, according to consumer reports, BMW is at the bottom of the list

Come on guys stop pushing the OP towards Aprilia.
I don't want my insurance rates to go up.
I say go for the BMW/Ducati those owners love to spend their money and don't mind their rates going up.
 
Wow this thread has become popular quick time. To the OP, don't look at all this bashing as a bad thing. It shows that the GTM community cares about your well being.
IMO I think going from a 250 with only one season on your belt to a 1000cc high revving superbike is not a great a idea. However, having said that, I am sure there are many guys that have done this with few issues.
In my experience I went from a 250cc ninja, which I rode for a few years, to a monster 796. It was quite the shock the power instantly available especially in the low end. Of course you can't compare a 796 monster to a 1000cc supersport bike. The full potential of the 1000cc will never get used on the street, let alone the track with your limited experience.

You seem set in your ways that this is the bike you want. I personally would consider the Aprilia rsv4 or the more street friendly nakeds, ie tuono, brutale, streetfighter, monster.

The RSV4 is not a good city or street bike. Runs rough at low RPM, Rear cylinders get crazy hot if not in motion. And if you are concerned about wait times for parts, than stay away. But it's an incredible bike for the track, that's why I pulled mine off the road after a season.
The Pani's 1199 are not user friendly. Almost like a 2 stroke. I love the bike, but Definetly not for a new rider,.
I saw the BMW at Blackfoot motosports in Calgary. Gorgeous machine. Love the colour scheme. Get the BMW.

Was supposed to be Yoshimura, but I've heard others (Johnny @ Pro6) describe it as a different brand. I don't know... seems like everything else aftermarket on the bike was from Yosh.

Very ture the V4 runs real hot in slow traffic and isn't happy doing so.
Throw in the hot start issues and it makes for a horrible city put-around bike.
Which is was never designed to be.

I vote the OP should go for the BMW.
 
@Everyone saying the OP isn't ready for the upgrade

I don't think it is a matter of skill or time invested into his 250. It, honestly, is a lot more based on personality. I have 2 good buddies I ride with (one started on a GSXR600 *GASP*) where we'll rip apart each other's riding styles, reference proven technologies (such as those gained from Total Control or read from Twist of the Wrist) and figure out how/what we did wrong on almost every ramp run. On the flip side, I've noticed a large number of riders have this gigantic ego shield where they won't admit any faults.

If the OP is an analytic individual that enjoys constantly developing his skills to reach the levels that the listed bikes are capable of, then by all means buy one. On the flip side...he'll meet Mr. Asphalt if he treats the throttle the same way he does on the 250 lol

Yeah after done more research, the RSV4 ECU really detune the bike for fuel economy (wtf?) at less than 6k RPM or 16% of throttle.

I dont understand why you said the Pani is like 2 stroke? Care to elaborate? I've ridden NSR150 which was like the second fastest on the road (behind NSR 250)

Race ecu is only $500 from AF1

As for the Pani, it's really peaky. Really nothing like you'd expect from a twin, you actually have to be pretty high in the revs to get alot out of it. I suspect that's what JPR means.
