These are the following tyres I've priced out before delivery/installation (serves as a good benchmark):

Pirelli Rosso Corsa: $280
Pirelli DRII: $243

Pirelli Super Corsa: $336
Pirelli Super Corsa V2: $327
Dunlop Q3: $247
Dunlop Q2: $247

Mich PP3 and PPP: $275
Mich PP 2ct: $238

Mich PP1: $370
Bridgestone S20: $275
Bridgestone BT016 Pro/non pro: $266/$293
Bridgestone BT003 - $321

I'd like to have a high performance tyre in the dry.. wet weather grip is not much of a factor for me. But I would also like to have fun on the track without having to worry about tyre temps and grip too much. If I can save $100 bucks then I'd rather do that. I'm not leaning towards to more focused track day tyres as my GSXR is mainly for commuting but would like to attend as many track days as possible next season.

Given the above prices which would you choose? (Bolded are my preferences due to price)

S20 or q3 gets my vote.

Can anyone explain to me how the Michelins stack up from least aggressive to most aggressive? The website is quite confusing and I can't quite make heads/tails of it.

Q3 s20 or super corsa are all the same class of tire and the only appropriate ones for track days.

Pilot Power 2CT is the lowest, Power One/Supersport/Cup would be highest. Not sure which of the Power 3/Power Pure is better but I'd assume the 3 since it is a newer tire.

Of what you've listed I'd look at the Q3, S20, and Power 3.

I would stay away from the BT016, Power 2CT, and BT003RS because they are all outdated tires that have been replaced by newer models.

Thanks! That cleared up a lot.

This is my narrowed down list:

Pirelli Rosso Corsas: $280
Dunlop Q3: $247
Mich PP3 and PPPure: $275
Bridgestone S20: $275

The Dunlops are considerably cheaper. I'm surprised I'm not finding a lot of positive reviews for the Rosso Corsas. At the higher price point between the Pirellis, the PP3's and the S20 I would have thought the Pirelli would be the best tire?

The rosso is not a track day tire the super corsa is price means nothing get the dunlops and be done. Personally I would get the super corsa but the Q3 is a close second.

To give you an idea of mileage, I just replaced my S20 rear after 6k and 3 trackdays.

For the price, get the Q3.

Thanks.. I think I will indeed get the Q3.

I'm currently running factory pressures on my tires (36/40) on my Pilot Road 2's and I can feel that it doesn't grip as well as it probably should (like my old Diablo Rosso 2's did). Is it worth running a lower pressure for the street (34/32)?

Try it out and see for yourself.

Ive had some great laps on both the Bridgestone Bt16's and the bt 003.

Dont shy away from them being an older technology. We were putting down some good laps with them both at calabogie.

36/40 is too high. That would be a good pressure for 2up touring with lots of weight on the bike. If you're riding sporty I would lower it. I use 32/30 as a starting point for most tires. Dont be afraid to play around with the pressure +/- a few psi.

Contact the local Michelin distributor and see what they say. Same goes for whatever tire you choose to run next year.

It's not like they're garbage and you'll crash by using them, but for the price I'd be going with the latest tech. I've had 016, 003RS, and S20s and I'm sticking with the S20.

Aren't you a new rider?
If so any of those tires will do the job but as it stands I would go with the Dunlop Q3's.

NEW?
He's got over 20K in his first 4-5 months of riding, hardly new. Marquez calls him for advice :lmao:

Close.. 16K in 6 months

I used to teach Rossi how to ride up until the 2010 session.... then I stopped mentoring him... we all saw what happened after.. (I did however give him a phone call before Assen this year)
