5 Cops, One eBike, 3 Cop cars, determined rider (sort of), rides away with a smile.

About 40 min ago I was Chilling on my balcony and I noticed a cop car parked on Yonge St. (West side) with it's lights out. Figured maybe he's waiting, maybe he's not in it. Then along comes an Ebike (Scooter looking one) with two up. They clearly run the red by about 3 seconds. The cherries light up and the cop made chase. The cop pulled them over along side a Hoocha lounge at Yonge/Finch. There were two sport bikes parked there. (maybe members here?) Anyways, back to it.. So the cop pulled them over, the passenger got off and walked off a few feet. (About 10). I am +20 floors so I was obviously unable to hear anything side from the initial sirens. But I can tell you for sure that the Ebike rider was ****** and was making many physical gestures indicating just that. Waving his hands in the air, pointing at the officer.. So the officer got into his car, shortly after another cop car showed up. This time a male and female officers. The obvious aggravation on part of both parties went up a few notches. The new male cop continuously had his arm raised pointing towards the rider while the officers were about 5 feet away from him. Minutes later another car. At this point there were 5 cops surrounding this guy while occasionally one would leave and go back to their car. After about 30 minutes, two officers left in their car. At this point I thought it was going to escalate as the guy looked more and more ****** so I got my GoPro and set it up on a tripod. I got some footage, however being I am very high up and the Go Pro does not have a zoom, it does not provide the best picture. I really wanted it for the sound as at first, I was thinking when seeing this guy argue with the cops the he may get shot or tazered. A few minutes later I see the guy throw his bicycle helmet on and dart (I'm not kidding) right around the cop car, up on the sidewalk and northbound on Young St. A block up and he u-turned off the sidewalk onto the street heading southbound towards where the cops were. Buddy rode right by them.. Nothing happened. I was looking through binoculars prior to setting up the GoPro. Crazy sh|t. I was thinking, Buddy.... You clearly ran that red.. What the Fu{k are you doing?..... Worked out well for him. Here's a pic of the scene from my balcony. You can see the Ebike wedged between the Cop car and the sidewalk. At this point there are Four cops standing across from the rider while the rider debated with the cop in the car. You can see the rider in the pic via his helmet (Which he took off at one point).

Never saw the passenger after they got off the ebike. Lost them in the commotion.

Too long a story, but I'm sure the police appreciate you filming them, then giving your name and/or location out on the world wide web.

He didn't get a ticket?

this story is actually worthless even with pictures, need conclusion, maybe 9 rounds fired and a tazering. Too soon?

I am +20 floors ,dont think they knew :)

ebikes piss me off.

that they do after they cut everybody off lol.

and why should they be able to skate away with no insurance they still have motors. the free skates has them coming out in bigger and bigger droves.

I remember back when I'd get tickets or my dad would for riding my little honda 50cc mini trails...in a field not even on a street

Imagine if you tried to pull that on a real bike....

He rode away and the cops envisioned the news about a car chase at 32km/h with an ebike and how redicilous it sounds and said, screw it.

I was thinking, WTF?? I guess that ebikes are not required to stop at red lights?? This guy obviously knew something the cops didn't. In the end he was let go. Watching through my binoculars, at no time did I see them
Give him a ticket.. Was flabbergasted when he just rode off. Epic fail on part of the police.

Wait....they no chase?

No chase. They seem to have rescinded based on the guys argument. I guess he states that its not a mc, that he's not governed by the same laws?? Who knows...

It could simply be that they got all the information they needed out of him, and his "dramatic escape" was more of a "messed-up departure." It was "see you in a couple of hours" rather than "good-bye".

I'll pray you're right.
