Welcome to Communist Kanada Komrade, Papers please

If they return the firearms, how is that wrong exactly?

Guess you have to be there right?

Had to be there? Wouldn't that compromise opportunity to comment on stuff? Please don't hold yourself to that standard. D23 posts don't just make Romper Room, they make Romper Room better.

Why, is that illegal too?

What law did they break?

Were you there? Doesn't matter. Glad you're still commenting.

Not in a state of emergency when they are aiding the public.

BTW: My drunk neighbor would be charged with attempted murder.

So, no law was broken. Obviously, since "tos more" doesn't seem to show up in any legal reference I can find.

inreb: you're commenting, I'm commenting.

I was saying that lockdown is BS since looters get in anyway. Not surprised you failed to understand something here on GTAM.

^ State of emergency? You missed that bit?

Edit: you guys are too fast..that was for the post above D23s

It's OK. No good deed goes unpunished.

Well, there is no actual punishment for doing your job with permission of the crown but that doesn't stop the internet from crying about what they would like to see vs. the actual law.

Have a good weekend guys.

Yes.

Please don't undercut others because they weren't at a particular event. Do you have any idea what that does to the art of trolling?

Have a good weekend.

I also see it as a convenient way to go into peoples houses and have a little look around. Sure they are giving the guns back, but I can assure you the ******** you'll probably have to go through in order for that will be a headache. If my house is flooded, I'll deal with the damage when the time comes. I don't need strangers breaking in, taking my guns and god knows what else considering you can always blame looters on missing stuff.

Precisely!
If the town was so well locked down as they say, why are they worried about looters?
It's not like L.A., any one who's ever been to high river knows it a small town.
I was watching the news and they showed the cops breaking into front doors with a crowbar.
To them, your house is just ruined garbage, so they don't care what damages they cause, they assume you have insurance i guess?!
I would want to salvage what i can from my home and make my own decisions regarding my property.
I don't need to come home and find my 1000$ front door wrecked too.

Absolutely disgusting. "Oh, they will give them back with proof of purchase".. I've bought long guns without any receipts, just show him my PAL and give him the cash. How can I have a proof of purchase for that? You can bet that they will make it as difficult as they can get away with for you to get your gun back. The current generation of police in this country has a long track record of doing everything they can to attack law-abiding sport shooters. Also, you can bet they will be fishing for charges and probably trumping up a few. I'm just glad this happened in Alberta. Over there, people care about their human rights and their Charter rights.

Not in a state of emergency when they are aiding the public.

That is the whole point - with the excuse of aiding the public they are over reaching.

BTW: My drunk neighbor would be charged with attempted murder.

That's exactly what I wrote. Please go back and give it a another read.

I think you may have a reading issue. I clearly wrote "TONS", not "tos". Just scroll up and take a second look.

Please post the link to the lootering incident you are talking about.

They aren't just going door to door looking around. They are collecting abandoned pets and possibly an abandoned elderly that got forgotten. And while they are there, picking up the guns that are hanging over the mantel.

The Albertan mentality "we are going in regardless" is making it very awkward for the police services. My Brother in law is RCMP so I hear his side and my Daughter lives in a flooded part of Alberta so I'm pretty familiar with the redneck flood crowd.

The harsh reality is a lot of these people do not have flood insurance and will be waiting for provincial/federal bailout comp.

Usually preventing a crime trumps waiting for a crime to happen and then arresting someone for it.

Also.... Section 8 of the charter of rights and freedoms doesn't stop police from entering a home to search for people that may be trapped or unable to evacuate when the town is in a DECLARED STATE OF EMERGENCY.

If they happen to find improperly stored firearms then they have to secure them. Proof that they are breaking into gun safes please?

If they happen to find a meth lab, same outcome only you wouldn't be getting your meth lab back.

Slave lake flood. All "confiscated" firearms were returned to their owners.

Tough ****ing luck if you have an illegal firearm and don't get it back.

I know this is Canada and crying about stuff on the internet is what Canadians do but I have to say, it never stops amazing me how petty people are here towards the people that are working 24/7 to help them.

We're gonna break into your house and seize your motorcycle so that you don't break the law this weekend. You know being long weekend and all you MIGHT ride in a dangerous way. We're just preventing you from committing a crime.

...I will have 20 years in the Reg force Army completed tomorrow (Mayb 28th)...

Why is it that people who are given a little bit of power (law enforcement, military) all of the sudden think that they are better then everyone else and have no respect for the laws of this country?

Why is it that these people become arrogant and insult the same people that they claim they are protecting and serving?

As a canadian citizen i am truly disappointed in the actions of our law enforcement and military in this case.

Why do you insult the ENTIRE gtamotorcycle community with a comment like that? If you are so much better than the thousands of members on here, then why are you here?

High River = 13,000 residents, town surrounded and searched etc..

http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/a...igh+River+homes+with+video/8588851/story.html

Calgary = 12,000 homes evacuated and empty, just ripe for the looting, and certainly a greater chance of that, being in a large city.
Why isn't this zone getting the same treatment?

A spokesperson from High River said "the police entered residents homes 3 times", once for people and pets, once for gas and electrical, and then they rummaged through everyone's private things and seized all the weapons and ammo they found.
Now the place is safe, yet they still wont allow anyone back in to the totalitarian zone.

Redneck flood crowd, still a small but tenacious demographic. With unpredictable weather patterns becoming the norm, this could become a real headache.
