Relaxed seating position, monstrous v-twin motor with violent power delivery, sportbike-like components and handling.

In other words, fun. Much like my Tuono, only this bike has 40hp and about 20lb/ft of torque on it judging from the pre-released specs.

After seeing that video, I get it.

I don't get the appeal of the SuperDuke. Anyone care to fill me in?

I think that video shows it better than I could explain.

Unrefined power, wide mx style bars combined with a position to wrestle the thing around. To me, it begs to be ridden just like in that video... Which is why I shouldn't own it.

I also think its super sexy

Good chance the production model will make it to the NA market for 2013.

Seems the only thing KTM thinks we want is 1000+ cc bikes.... which I don't understand because when I bought my 2010 690 mid season it was the second last one left in Ontario...???

The engine is based on the 173hp 1190 RC8 engine. They're talking over 180hp for the 1290.

I dont get this huge cc trend. I might as well get a busa if i wanted a 1190. Anything above 1000 is just too much in my books

The power delivery of this engine would be nothing like a Hayabusa. It will be abrupt, violent and slightly insane whereas the 'busa engine is smooth and fairly predictable.

This bike will be a huge hooligan with massive overall performance. It'll probably yank the fairings off a 'busa to 200km/h if they keep it as is.

KTM is alot of thing, but reasonably priced isn't one of them. Expect to PAY. LOTS. for this thing.

Once you get on it you wont remember how much it cost though.

Looking at the 2013 press kit, I'd also like to see them bring up the 390 Duke as well.

I haven't seen anything about it on the website. I'm interested in it as well. Saw some in Korea but since it had just been released at the time (or so I thought), not many.
