Making the jump from SS to Cruiser?

What about something like the Ducati Diavel? Cruiser with SS power.

I have a Monster and I find it comfortable on long rides, but for ultimate comfort you need to lower the pegs. Also it has no storage so you'd have to add saddle bags for that.

If your wallet can't handle a beamer, I would recommend looking at the GSX 1250.

I rode it at the Brampton Powersports Suzuki demo day and it was awesome to accelerate fast and carve corners with, while still being extremely comfortable.

To the OP.If you have been an ss rider all your life think twice about switching to a cruiser. Two different worlds. You may miss the adrenaline rush of an SS. In a perfect world you would have both but not always in the budget.

I don't know man, I would dread the day when I suddenly like cruisers rather than sportbikes, I love sportbikes but hate their uncomfortableness, this is why I bought a sport-tourer, it looks like a sportsbike but is very comfortable for long trips.

Cruisers? I wouldn't be caught dead in one of them, that's a sign of old age.

Cruisers have their issues too, remember you have to sit on your tail bone, and after a while you start feeling numb in your lower back. I can't ride more than two hours before I need a 10 minutes break.

I love the no maintenance of the shaft drive though, no greasing or cleaning. My next bike for sure will not be a cruiser, hopefully a BMW with a belt/shaft drive and ABS.

Shouldn't you be testing your bike on an off-ramp somewhere?

why not a sport touring?? you get the best of both, and the new Ninja 1000 looks badass..

I second the sport touring. Have you spent much time on a cruiser? I'm not an SS guy, but I find cruisers at least as uncomfortable.. SS's are too far forward.. cruisers are too far back, arms up high, pressure on the tail bone.. sport touring is just the perfect middle, and the most comfortable seating position IMO.. I too LOVE the ninja 1000's but you don't have to spend a fortune... there's some nice used sport tourers on kijiji.

If you want to be able to keep up with your current SS riding group I would suggest a Bandit or FZ1. A Bandit 1250 with the stock Givi paniers is a great value and the bike is bullet proof. However, it's pretty heavy and if you ride it hard you'll be chewing up tires quickly. Be careful, some cruisers are uncomfortable too, just in a different way.

booyah has his bandit 1250 for sale for 8k, all 4 bags, lots of upgrades..

+2 on the bandit. I bought the 650 version just after trying it at the same demo day. Absolutely no regrets. It's super fun to ride and fast plus still practical. Im riding it from Saint John to Milton next Saturday. I'll let y'all know how she does
