Want to get back on two wheels after a 2-year break from riding...

This thread won't help you, only you can decide what you want. In other words what looks good? What's your definition of fast? What do you feel is comfortable?

If I had to make a suggestion based on what little you stated, I would say get a supersport and install a handlebar riser kit for 3 or 400 dollars.

I have an SV1000S with a handlebar kit on it that makes acceptable power. My friend has the VFR800fi with a handlebar kit as well. You could ride either all day long. Both fall well below your stated budget limits.

Have you considered combining riding and shooting? Kind of like modern day knight jousting.

I used to own an SV1K and I also had the LSL handlebar kit/Spiegler SS line kit on it. Nice ride. I regret letting it go. Not crazy about the VFR. I like bigger bore.
Yes, I have considered shooting and riding... but fortunately for Toronto drivers, I have not put it into "practice" :)

I want a fast, do-it-all machine that won't break my wrists or back on longer rides. I also want something I can enjoy looking at while I chill at Tim Horton's. I'm not a Starbucks kind of guy (unless there's plenty of hot women there). :)

Like someone said earlier, we're only gonna recommend what we think fits this description... and you're looking for similar things that I typically do, so here's my shortlist of DO WANT bikes:
- '08+ Honda VFR800
- '11 Yamaha FZ8
- Triumph Street Triple or Street Triple R

And I haven't rode any of the following bikes, but I think they'd be okay to do some modest touring on and TBH I'd put up with a little pain just because they're so beautiful:
- Ducati 848
- Triumph Daytona 675
- Honda CBR600RR

Never thought of that. How about a compound bow?

I was thinking about it. Either way it's kinda hard, but compound is definitely harder.

You'd have to maintain PERFECT balance while trying to load the arrow.

With a crossbow, you could preload the arrow and it'd be much easier to shoot with accuracy...but you run the risk of shooting yourself or the bike every time you hit a bump =/

crossbows are for pussy's...as well compound bows.

Straight long bow is where its at...while riding...lol

You must be Hyrkanian.

my gsxr 1k (both years) has a very comfortable seat...no joke.
