Also the superstore at Stephenson in the shwa had them last week.

Still $595 right?
 
I looked online and only saw the regular non-inverter style, guess I just need to go in and look. Hopefully they're on sale :)
 
I know your looking for inverter style, but CT just had their 4000 watt Coleman on sale for $299. It even had the wheel kit on it too.
 
I may get a regular one but seeing as how I take everything in my truck (no trailer) I'd like to spend a little more and get somthing more compact, it's already semi tight and a well planned load up.
 
When i switched to an inverter I found that fuel consuption was far less. It's not so much the cost of fuel but the amount of fuel I have to carry. An inverter barely inhales at idle. Quieter as well.
 
The big difference between the inverter type and the std generators is the sine wave of electrical power produced. Inverters usually have a "cleaner" sine wave so if your running computers, laptops or electronic chargers, the inverter can be a better investment.
 
I have one of these gennys. ......and can't wait to get rid of it for a Yamaha or Honda.

Hard to start. Fouls plugs. First one had to be replaced under warranty by Walmart. Second one has intermittent throttling issues all by itself. It is quiet and fuel efficient, but almost twice as heavy as a Honda or Yamaha as well. It is just a rebadges Chinese generator.
 
I have seen 2 seperate people toss those blue hyundai ones as far as they could throw them. 1 was 3 days old and quit at the wrong time...

I have 5 years on a honda 2k inverter. Find one second hand for 900-1000$ Be thankful that you did.

But that's just my opinion.
 
I had a HDD1250. Ran good for a season, then the panel fried itself. Do not recommend. And the warranty process is such a PITA i just tossed it
 
I think I'm going to go with a Champion from Costco. I'd love a Honda but I need to stick to my budget this year and the reviews seem to be good.

This is not so. The inverter generators are certainly newer technology, are quieter and use less fuel, but, the output waveform is no "cleaner" than a standard generator.
A standard generator actually produces a pretty good sin wave output. The engine has to run at a synchronous speed to produce a 60 Hz output; 3600 RPM, 1800 RPM, 1200 RPM ...
An inverter generator on the other hand can run it's engine at virtually any speed. The output from the windings is rectified to DC then inverted to 60 Hz AC. There will be some (electrical) noise on the output from the inverter function but it's not noticeable and the signal is perfectly acceptable to any load.

The "cleaner" output is a marketing ploy for inverter generators. I don't know why they do it, the technology stands on it's own and for our uses has significant advantages in sound and fuel savings.
If you run an inverter generator at full load for long periods it will use more fuel than a standard generator due to the losses in the rectifier and inverter.
 
I cant speak on the Hyundai inverter but I have a 6500 watt standard that I have been using at SOAR events for three years now without issue. When I say use I start it Thursday afternoon and shut it off Sunday night. It generally runs three motorhomes the tining building, registration and whatever else needs power. Also have a Honda 2000i good genny but just not enough juice for my needs.
 
The biggest load mines going to see is two sets of warmers. I just need somthing quiet and reliable without the price tag. I know you get what you pay for but if it means racing or not, the champion wins.

As long as your Champion is far away from my pit area I don't care.

TMP and Grand Bend offer places to pit that you are able to move your generators far away from everyone. Shannonville isn't as good in that regard. Depending on where you pit you may have no option to move your generator far away without annoying someone else.

If you find a used Honda EU2000 for $1000, you could use it for 3-4 years then sell it for $1000.
 
The reviews say its fairly quiet?, it's the inverter type and a guy was pitted beside me last year with one and you could easily have a conversation with it running beside us. I'm going to try and make some sort of enclosure to direct the sound as well.
