worried about rear tire - opinions please

Sure is a lot of tread on the side of that tire?

I rode on a tire that was cords half way around the tire from Peterborough to Orangeville. Then I did a burnout which took the rubber on the good half and melted it over the cords. Good to go.

Not smart, but I had no other way to get there to change the tire. Once you take the tire off you realize how thin the cords are lol.

Yeah. Give it a try.
Watch GP racing closely.

That would be wheel rpms lower than ground speed. That's not what I would call "lock up", as stated by the voice-over in the first vid.

OK, I'll give you that. I meant sliding the rear wheel, not locking it up.
My bad.

I slide the rear wheel by giving it gas. That's backing it in, not letting go of the gas. Letting go of the throttle is not riding hard, it's the opposite. What you are describing is the set-up to a big high side and an awesome way of upsetting your suspension. I hope it never gets to that point for you.

OK, I would love to show you how.
You're not getting it.

Seems to me that you aren't big on riding at the track, as in never had the last time I heard, and it isn't the sort of thing you want to try on the highly variable surface of the street, where it would in fact likely result in eating the weeds.

Would Deals Gap be a good place to try it?

Why are you even allowed to post? I pray that no newbs ever take anything you say as gospel......they could end up dead listening to you and your drivel.
oh but they do, they don't know better.

I have locked my back wheel down shifting on my gsxr 750, Also on my zx6r a few times actually. Don't get what the argument is about.

but go on

p.s. op say hi to Sam for me

Umm.. this is incorrect and might be the dumbest post of the week.

I would say no.

Why would that matter? I enjoy backing it in. nuff said.

Because you seemed to be saying that it was a necessity and given that Paul is a significantly faster rider than you, and I don't recall him ever talking about 'backing it in' at The Gap, that throws the whole 'necessity' thing right out the window. You aren't going fast enough to 'need to.'

Who said that I need to?
How would you know he's faster than me. you have never ridden with me. And why the hell would that matter any way?

Actually you did, back in post 71, and I have ridden with you, at least a couple of times.

If you're riding slower than someone who doesn't need to steer the rear, in the same circumstances, then either you don't need to do it or your lines suck, so you don't need to do it if you improve them.
