worried about rear tire - opinions please

There is so much fail in this thread my head hurts. I find it kinda funny that a guy who claims to ride fast rides on his tires until the cords. But its no suprise then that this same person is held together by metal
The cords only wear out in the middle, you just gotta be careful during acceleration. Once you get it leaned over it still sticks like glue ;)

I presume you also only stop hard while leaned well over cause stopping on tires that are showing the cords is just about the most foolish thing I`ve heard of.

My rear brake is totally disconnected, so showing cords on my rear affects my braking how? ;)

but you don't know how to lean a bike over (15 degrees isn't "leaned over")....:lmao:

OP. That tire's DONE. Get it replaced before it fails and grenades your bike and you.
Unlike a car tire, once you're at the cords, there's only really maybe 1mm of material left. I can't imaging it would take much force for that thin material to rip apart over a rock, a nail, around a corner, etc., etc....

Why are you even allowed to post? I pray that no newbs ever take anything you say as gospel......they could end up dead listening to you and your drivel.

You guys are a bunch of pussies. I dont have a rear brake, or front brakes, or even a clutch cable.... i still have the lever tho. Who needs to slow down? Or a secondary braking system for emergencies?

I knew a guy who removed his rear caliper entirely to save weight on his ZX7. He also had a tatoo on his face. The only two things I knew about the guy and two idiotic things. Some of you should know who I'm talking about. Hopefully he is a bit smarter now.

I would not ride any further than absolutely necessary on it.

Also, if you are involved in an accident, your fault or someone else's, your insurance adjuster very well may take one look at your tire and say you where willfully driving an unfit vehicle. And you may have problems with your insurance. I know a few people that were involved in accidents on their own, and with others, and the adjuster and police immediately looked to see if the bike had worn out tires or non-street tires (race slicks or cut-slicks).

It's your life.
Be safe.

He used to work at Parker Brothers when it was next to Cycle World. He has a green Shamrock on his cheek. No idea if he is still around.

im used to paying 30 dollars a rim to change the tire. cant take my rim off and get a ride down to a mechanic either.

That tire is toast, I would not even ride to the shop on it. You say you only pay $30 per rim, but you can't take the wheel off. Just where do you go that they will remove the wheel, remove and install a new tire and reinstall the wheel for 30 bucks?

BTW, I just replaced the front and rear tires on my bike last week. I got just over 22,000km out of the last set of Avon Storm II's and was so impressed with them I ordered another set from Pete's. Although I'll be winterizing the bike this weekend I still think it was a good idea because I will have fresh tires next spring and will not need to go have them installed when I would rather be out riding.

I thought the tattoo was a tear, which would have shown a complete lack of understanding of what such a tattoo means? Then again it's been a while....
