Year Round Riding

I found a good sight for poeple who ride all the time including the extremes. I have been giving some thought to studding a set of tires and ridingo one of the bikes all winter since I have a short commute to work, might be an option.

Have to read through the sites later when I've got more time; but correct me if I'm wrong, aren't studded tires illegal (at least in Ontario)?

That said, it would definitely be an interesting experience. These guys had fun with it:

(they have a few other winter riding videos with studded tires, pretty funny channel despite not understanding half of what they're saying.)

Also an awesome vid; believe I saw that one quite some time back, too. Those Vmax's are nice bikes.

I rode my V-Strom straight through the winter last year (with the exception of days where there was significant snow/ice on the ground, which were few.) The cold doesn't bother me much, and the bike handled surprisingly well on the cold pavement -- even had a few low-speed ice crossings without much trouble -- but man I'd love to have studded tires so I could *really* tackle the fun stuff.

I have ridden almost year round for about 8 yrs on a variety of different bikes. Some winters there is too much snow and the bike gets parked until it clears a bit. But if the roads are free of snow and ice, then regardless of the temperatures, I ride - heated gear helps a lot. Unfortunately, the heated gear doesn't do much for my cold tires or the cold pavement...

Studded tires are legal for use in Ontario - from Parry Sound and northward only. The type of studs you can use are regulated so read the link if you are interested.
