Hey,
So I got an email from Snow City that they are hosting the Yamaha Power Tour where you can test ride some 2013 Yamaha bikes, I chose the fz6r and r6.
Compared to my YZF 750, the fz6r is much lighter and a bit more lazy feeling, no low end power at all, comfort was ok. Handling was excellent. Brakes and clutch excellent,. Much better choice for a newer rider than the r6.
The r6 on the other hand is so cramped and you are constantly on your wrists HARD. On top of that the power is so peaky and the bike is so responsive that it is almost scary. Brakes and clutch excellent, better than my hydrolic clutch and it's cable.I would not recommend it for any inexperienced rider as it surprised the hell out of me riding almost 30 years. Much more difficult to throw into a corner than the fz
All in all it was a good ride and my feeling that bikes of my generation are better for me have been reinforced, power with a bit of comfort combined with way better looks.
Best,
ps I'm really glad Yamaha brought the old racing red and white color scheme back for 2013, I really hated the move to burgundy from red a while back for the R models
