Wires behind headlight & electrical tape

I took off the fly screen on my bike.

There are some wires now visible behind headlight. I was worried about them getting wet so i did a ghetto electrical tape job.

I know in the heat the electrical tape will get all gooey .

Can anyone recommend anything else?

I was thinking liquid tape? Anyone try it?

Quality electrical tape has been used with great success for centuries. What kind of heat are you expecting in there? Don't over think it. Where possible I try to leave a tag of tape doubled back on itself. Easier to unravel when servicing. Oh, look into die electric grease for the connectors.

Liquid tape works great. I've also used Corona Dope with good success. You can also use heatshrink tubing (I prefer the stuff that's also loaded with adhesive that melts and gets squeezed as the tubing shrinks). Even quality tape will hold up well if applied properly, but you don't want the el-cheapo Home Depot crapola.

Princess auto sells these. Im sure they have one that's big enough for your wires

Edit: They're called wire loom

Yes use a loom and tape or ty-wrap it in several places. Any crimp on connectors use shrink wrap or liquid tape on ends.

Heat shrink also does wonders..

Heat shrink is great for permanent installations. Wire loom allows you to remove it, if you need to do any work. In addition you could get some dielectric grease to protect the connectors.

How does heat shrink slip on with connector ends in place? And the wire loom isn't water proof. I guess tape is just too easy.

Heat shrink can reduce to perhaps as little as a quarter of its original diameter, but it can be an issue with large connectors. Wire loom isn't waterproof but then again neither is heat shrink, rally, unless you get the sort that has hot melt plastic inside. If you do, then it's never coming off again. That's why I also recommended the dielectric grease for the contacts.

This appears factual. Not sure that it's the correct answer to original post. The dielectric grease is good but that's been covered off in post #2.

If you want to to look OEM you can get some of the original plastic tube wraps that come on bikes from http://vintageconnections.com/
