Winter stretch

Now that bow season is done, Christmas & New Years is complete what is everyone doing with their spare time?

This time of year I usually build a model or two (1/72 scale WW2 airplanes is my thing). I also do most of my re-loading (9mm, 308 and 12 Gauge) and re-fletch a batch or two of arrows - I keep everything set up on the bench so this does not take much time at all. I shoot at the indoor range (guns and compound bow), and every other week my wife and I do a couple of hours of virtual golf and then dinner afterwards. I have a fly in fishing trip to plan out and iron out a couple of things for our summer vacation, and before bed I read - I have a couple of books I need to crush before spring. That pretty much keeps me busy in the dark days of winter.

Spend time with my kids.

Work as much as I can, so I dont feel too bad when I take time off to ride in the summer.

Order bike parts, install said bits in a freezing cold shed while bitching about the winter.

Repeat each season as needed until death or retirement.

Moderate the uhm, adults, on GTAM!

My time to part ways with **** I don’t use or should have sold the year before. Organize basement. Travel.

Look for junk I don’t need on FBMP and Kijiji (enclosed trailer for instance), look at my list of unfinished projects around the house, do some crossword puzzles, spend time with kids, and curse Doug Ford for sending me back to the office 5 days/week.

Besides that….Im busy as is.

'Very similar here... 'Was actually at the range today testing out some 9mm reloads :)
Lots of indoor IPSC matches to shoot in the winter... 'Shot one last Sunday, shootin' another this Sunday and then another January 9th.
I'm a "casual" archer at this point... Sticking with bare bow for now just to keep it simple... Archery is another rabbit-hole you can easily fall into as far as gear goes. 😁
Once in a while I'll go to an indoor archery only club, but I can also arrange to fling arrows at my gun club's indoor range...

Daughter in Hamilton called tonite. The 76 Yamaha won't start. No ****. It's -10 and the thing is 50 years old. Gave her all the usual advice. Guess I'm going to Hamilton this week.

I don’t have spare time.

I’ll start the year in Florida, a few weeks to decompress and soak up a little sunshine. Late Jan I’ll head back to my remote sub arctic post for a few weeks of freezing my ass off. Then back to the GTA to do some home improvements for about a month. Then back up north for a while, then back to FL for a few weeks of spring fishing (tarpon run is one of my faves).

Gonna try to do less work, more sledding and ice fishing. Yesterday was pretty good, we bagged our limit in wallies inside a hour.

If I have any free time, my focus is revitalizing. 74 RD125.
