where to get a motor?

So I've lost second gear and have low compression on my bike, still need to have it looked into further but if I end up just looking for a new motor since im over 60 000 km does anyone have any suggestions where to find one without getting ripped off?
Its an 05 636

Also if I end up getting my motor worked on can anyone suggest a few cheap mods that I may want to get done while in there to get some more performance from the bike? I Love this bike and don't want a new one by far my favorite bike I've ridden and don't really want to move to 1000 but I would like a bit more from it. So I figure I might as well get it done if I'm going as far as a new motor anyway

I can't I'm in love my 636 and it wouldn't be right :-( we've had to many good times together to just toss her aside cause she's a little worn out
 
Well I have to get the motor looked Into, Its a long story but the diagnosis was probably complete bs the mechanic who looked at it and said compression was bad was a complete hack I found out after i gave him the bike to look at that he is ****, bike doesnt even run after he Gave it back and it ran fine before. He told me the compression was down and tried to talk me into a motor, but second gear is for sure gone, it always had trouble getting Into second if your shift wasn't good and hard. I drove it hard yes but abused? It should be able to handle what o did to it, unfortunately every bike shop I paid to do maintenance on it caused more damn problems

Search across insurance auctions. Many bikes get written off under salvage brand with perfectly intact engines. And you can score one dirt cheap.
 
He said abused because your second gear is half gone.. Typical for people who do wheelies a lot, to have damaged second gear.

Only if you can do it yourself. Getting a shop to rebuild it will cost more than a good used one and will take weeks.
