You should be able to find something like that in the project wood section at HD, Rona or Lowes. They also have Oak and Poplar.

Already tried Central since they are actually in the city. They don't have thinner than 1" dimensional board.

Given your location I am surprised you didn't mention Century Mill Lumber in Stouffville. There is also Peacock Lumber in Oshawa but that's a bit far. Lee Valley is mostly hobby stuff, pen and carving blanks etc. For hobby stuff and turning supplies Woodchuckers is just around the corner from Lee Valley.

I'll stop now because I am answering questions nobody asked!
