Where did your motorcycle come from ?

Probably because they're including scooters, mopeds, and any other motorized vehicles with 2 wheels - possibly even e-bikes. There's no way Italy is half or even 1/3 of Japan without Vespa.

Thats very surprising, not at all what I would have expected. I thought Japan would have been a strong first.
Even the Japanese build or assemble a lot of stuff offshore. Honda has plants in Brazil, Thailand and elsewhere for instance. You'd have to look at the VINS to figure out what comes from where.

Yes, I wish the data was drilled down a little better.

Not sure how accurate, since it's a Facebook post with no references. It's also mentions country of parts origin, not country of production or assembly.

"Where are motorcycles made today? Few are made in the US, although many are "assembled" here. The two primary American brands, Harley Davidson and Indian both assembled here but many parts are imported. Harley gets most of its parts from Taiwan, Italy, Austria, Mexico, Japan, and Germany. Most parts are imported from around the world. Indian gets parts from some Asian sources but most are American made. Attached are world maps showing where many of the larger brands are made. The sixth picture shows some estimated sales numbers. I find this stuff interesting."

Complicated, isn't it ? :)

All of Honda’s generators, snowblowers, lawn equipment etc. that I owned in the 80’s and 90’s was made in Japan and was really good stuff but as I’ve been replacing them I’ve noticed that they are now made in China, I think their snowblowers are assembled in the US. I guess that’s the case with motorcycle s too. All still good stuff but I have to say that their snowblowers aren’t as good. I had a hydrostatic drive 8 1/2 HP Honda from late 80’s or early 90’s that would absolutely run circles and bury my new
9 1/2 HP Honda snowblower. The older one feels way more powerful. If you have good quality control i guess it doesn’t really matter where it’s made.

Mine is manufactured/assembled in Thailand and branded British. (Triumph T100)

I suspect Royal Enfield cranks out a ton for their market. The Big Bear and other twins are not intended for the Indian domestic market.

For Japan, I’m surprised. Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda make a boat load of models. I know a lot of their entry level machines would be made in other countries but, figured most of their “quality” machines would come from their home country.

One made in Thailand (most Japanese brands are now I think). And one made in Japan.

Japan x 10: FJR, GL1000, SP125, RD125,TC125, QT50, DR750, DL650, XV920R (x2)
England x 1: TR25W
Czech x1: Jawa 350

That’s by VIN. Most are old, when motorcycle companies did production at home.

I think my 919 was assembled in Italy?

Just checked, my Scrambler is built and assembled in Italy.

There's a secondary plant in Asia that assembles for Asia specifically due to local tariffs.

Woohoo...I think...
