looking at getting into riding, been reading the forum for a while now and figured why not join and support the site.
Im in toronto, seeing a lot insurance talk lately. I've been wondering if it even makes sense to try and get into it anymore..? :confused:

With regards to insurance, there's so many variables it's impossible to say much aside from the following.


  • Make your first bike a reasonable bike.
  • Don't buy a bike before you call for an insurance quote on said bike to make sure you can afford it.
  • Shop around - some quotes you get will be astronomical for year 1 insurance. It doesn't meal all will be..unless;
  • If you have any big black marks on your driving record it's likely to cause you grief for year 1 motorcycle insurance.

Highly recommend taking a safety course as well in the spring once they start up again. $400-$500 well spent, the stuff you learn could save your life some day..and you get your M2 faster which could make a slight but measurable difference for your 1st year insurance with some insurers.
