I am thinking of selling my 1987 honda cbx250. It has 30k and is in tip top running order it passed safety last september and can easily pass again. No leaks, no problems

What do you think is a fair price fir me to list at? I couldnt find a blue book value for the bike.

seriously!!!!???

i'm in the market for a 250 sized bike and i can tell you there are 2007 ninja 250's listed for 2800-3000 that the sellers will take 2500...i'd go with 1500 or less even after looking what is listed on kijiji right now...

p.s...pm me with the bike details and i might take a look at it...

I dont see any 250cc bikes on kijiji that are certified, start, idle, run with no problems for $1000..... I wasnt looking to list it for anunrealistic amount but $1000? i will keep it if thats the case.

If it runs it's worth $1000. With older bikes your almost better off keeping them because you get nothing for them unless they're rare and popular.

Your bike is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Start high and let them talk you down.

try selling it in spring when the market is there, it's a good starter bike to learn on and the insurance is reasonable. bike fever will kick in, shine the bike with wax and stick to your guns on the price.

The CBX was only available in Canada for 1987, it's a one year bike. Parts will be difficult to find, not exactly a strong selling point regardless of condition.

Jordan Szoke started roadracing on one of those (actually I think it was 5 of them, ex-rider-training bikes that they got cheaply back in the day). At least one of them was still in service as a race bike at SOAR last year, and the rider is pretty darn good, too. Bike weighs next to nothing with the street stuff stripped off.

there are a few things to consider when selling...

1. Do you want to sell it and get rid of it? or Do you want to get your asking price (within reason)
if you want to get rid of it, drop the price and it'll move other wise take your time and you should be able to get a reasonable dollar

2. Obviously selling in the spring will get you more $$$

3. What is the bike worth to you?

4. Everyone will offer you low $$ cause of the age of the bike as well as the style...
most people want a "modern" looking bike, rather then a "retro" style sport
i'd rather pay a $2K-$3k and get a much newer/cooler looking bike then you have...
go to kijiji ontario, and do a search under the sport bikes listing, type in 250 up top
and set the price for $2000-$3000
Realistically see what is out there and then come up with price...

the start at $1500 and sell around $1000 is a realistic number...
now if its worth more to you then $1000ish then keep it...
also bear in mind insurance and maintenance cost for having a second bike

what would you be willing to sell the bike for is the question you need to ask yourself

I think you could get more than $1500 for it, if you sold it certified. I would list it somewhere below $2000, though - maybe $1800. This site is mostly about sportbikes, so a lot of people here aren't going to be interested in most bikes before 1990 anyway.

You must be talking about Chris Van... He's got his racebike, and one as a parts bike. Picked it up for cheap. They're not really worth much.

OP, I'd keep it. That being said, you can't attach sentimental value to it and expect its worth what you think its worth. Its 25 years old, and as its been said it wasn't a very desireable model. I enjoyed riding the CBX250, so for me I'd keep it and flog it...
