What is your Budget for a Bargain Find?

Overall, my posts are too long and wordy and the whole experience was a dogs breakfast. The shop is reputable and the incident was regrettable to everyone involved. Let’s just say the bike was in top condition and the cost to put it back would exceed the value of the bike itself.

It was a 98 K1200RS with 53k on the clock and well cared for by a mature owner reducing his stable due to health reasons.

Anyways, I did some reflection on how I intended to ride the machines I had. The K bike is a great tourer but any travel I’d do on the highways would generally be on a cage due to comfort from the elements.

So what kind of riding am I really looking for? It’s really to jump out to get the breeze through my knees and have a grin or two.

The 87 mono lever R80 would have satisfied that very much but, I had sold it with the intent to keep the K. Insuring and moving two bikes around the garage didn’t make sense.

I’m picking up the new to me bike tomorrow and will share some pick once it’s home.

Jesus I just wrote another novel and said diddly squat. 😆
Just to clarify, your vintage bike was written off by the shop while being worked on in the shop or on a test ride?

Yes. And the first incident like it ever in their 35 years of business.

Let’s just say I’m moving on and letting it disappear in the rear view. Thus my apprehension to even post about it.

For my next trick, I’ve gone back to the classic look and ride of yesteryear. It will look good in the garage with its 4 wheel sister of the same name even if it’s not the same corporation.

Dreams of rides across the country will remain dreams but, I’ll enjoy day trips via back roads on this beauty.

Damn, that's a beautiful Bonneville!

Congrats @nakkers!

In keeping with that spirit, there's an apparel company with the same name as the 2 wheel and 4 wheel corporation that sells some clothing you would probably look good in while riding or driving:

Triumph clothing

Was that the one that was on FB for $4k last week?

Yes. One owner bike with 37k on the clock and well maintained with plenty of documentation and a few extras, wind screens, clutch cable, saddlebags etc. located DT TO and purchased by this out of towner.

I low balled him. Ok, we came to an agreement on price below asking. 😉

There is a sticker I need to remove from the side panel but, otherwise very clean bike.

😝 I sure am spending a lot of time at this website! Thanks for that!

Damn it! I had it saved and wanted to do the same but kept putting it off because.... reasons I'll make a thread about later haha.

Glad it went to someone in the GTAM fam at least! :)

Screenshot_20250816_180923_Samsung Internet.jpgDoes this count? I got this entry-lvl mtb for $50 wheels spin straight, good frame for the era (japanese cr-mo tubing), and decent parts. Checked the serial number and it was built in Taiwan in August 1992 batch 4181. Bike shop that sold it was located near kennedy go station; "Earl's cycle and sporting goods".
