What is your Budget for a Bargain Find?

Overall, my posts are too long and wordy and the whole experience was a dogs breakfast. The shop is reputable and the incident was regrettable to everyone involved. Let’s just say the bike was in top condition and the cost to put it back would exceed the value of the bike itself.

It was a 98 K1200RS with 53k on the clock and well cared for by a mature owner reducing his stable due to health reasons.

Anyways, I did some reflection on how I intended to ride the machines I had. The K bike is a great tourer but any travel I’d do on the highways would generally be on a cage due to comfort from the elements.

So what kind of riding am I really looking for? It’s really to jump out to get the breeze through my knees and have a grin or two.

The 87 mono lever R80 would have satisfied that very much but, I had sold it with the intent to keep the K. Insuring and moving two bikes around the garage didn’t make sense.

I’m picking up the new to me bike tomorrow and will share some pick once it’s home.

Jesus I just wrote another novel and said diddly squat. 😆
Just to clarify, your vintage bike was written off by the shop while being worked on in the shop or on a test ride?

Yes. And the first incident like it ever in their 35 years of business.
