what is this worth? need help. purchasing privately.

You guys generalize WAY too much. Every older gentleman in this world is different. Some have lots of money, some have little, some ride a ton, some ride once a summer. It means absolutely zero to me if it says that in the ad. Same with lady driven/"bike mechanic" owned etc etc.

If I am serious about something I will make the time to meet with the seller. When I bought my bike in the summer (2009 ZX6R) I could see it was in showroom condition before I even walked up the driveway. Owner was very knowledgable, and told me all about the maintenance. Didn't have to think twice about buying it.
If it was some young kid who didn't know when the last oil change was or I could tell it was beaten on then I would have walked away.

You saw it, you said it's in good condition for a 10 year old bike. You know the owner, just buy the darn thing.

I'd take someone with me that knows bikes. You know the seller, so another opinion would help everyone get to a realistic number. How old are the tires? Does it need a chain and sprockets? Brake pads? When was the brake fluid last changed? I see these problems all the time on used bikes offered for sale, and it's not deception, just that the seller is often ignorant of maintenance schedules.

hey guys, thinking of purchasing a new bike privately and wanted some honest insight.

here's some info on it:
04 honda cbr 600 rr in red/black
22xxx km
yoshimura cf slip on exhaust
lowered (didn't catch the manufacturer of the links)
powdercoated wheels white
everything else seems oem
been legitimately plated until july/13 and then stored
owner has had the bike for 2 years
he bought it from an older gentleman, which tells me it's been taken care of
barely rode it according to his UVIP, the km's has barely changed from when he bought it until now
been stored in garage
hasn't been dropped, paint and fairings are in great condition
the only scratches that can be seen are the ones coming from inside pants leg
rides well and all gears are good

here's some info on the current owner:
owner's brother is my friend
both of them are sort of a hoarder on honda
they have always taken care of their cars
which tells me they've taken care of this bike
don't hack job any of their current vehicles

so what would you guys pay for a bike in that condition with that type of owner?

636 or bust :P

I would Imagine that the range for cars is higher than bikes but i am not sure. 1500 as a margin for a motorcycle seems to much

But what do I know, it seems people are selling bikes 2k under the ask, but everyone I know that has sold a bike in the past year swears they got close to asking price, someone is not telling the truth

Buyers always say they got it for 1500 less and sellers always say they got close to asking price lol
Plus... bikes a little less common. It's not really as common as an integra.

Integra's are pretty uncommon these days! Wish I could find a nice unmolested Type R... I know of a guy who has time-capsuled his. Pretty sure it's going to be worth some good coin one day... along with a time capsule MK-V Supra, 300zx, Rx-7 ..
