What is considered high milage?

My SV650 engine had 120,000 km on it until I swapped it for another one. I ran low on oil (my own fault) and killed the bottom end. I have no doubt that the engine could easily get above 200,000 had I been more attentive.

It could be argued that a motor burning significant amounts of oil is done.

I have 05 SV650S and I just turned 50,000Kms last week of which about 30,000kms are mine. Regular oil changes and lots of chain maintanence and she runs like a top. I will be doing the sproket and chain next week when parts come in but other than that basic stuff including tires and brakes. Hoping for over 200,000kms out of her before she gets retired.

The redline on that bike is a car like 7500 rpm, seems it is in a fairly low state of tune so it makes sense it would last as long as a car engine......although he did do some work on it:

"the motor, is as it came from the factory, I have had to replace head gaskets, and back in Feb on a trip to Panama I had a plastic chain guide brake so I've replace then all. The valves, springs, seals, bearing etc. are original to the motor.
The trans I did replace all the bearings some time ago I'm thinking around the 200k mark. The clutch was replaced at that time since I was "there" so I'm one my second clutch.
Still have the original fuel pump. Two final drive bears, the last one when out around 300k miles. Pivot bearings at the final drive go bad around 40 or 50 miles. Hall sensors about every two or three years. I still have the original brake rotors but they will have to be replaced soon as they are getting thin. I lost count of tire years ago."
