cleaned my garage up at last and tried to start my sportster and all i got was lights blinking. Did a battery load test and 10v sigh... i should've just removed the battery and charged it instead of relying on the terminal.

I pulled the front wheel off for a tire replacement and checked the air filter. The tire replacement has less steps and is actually easier to do than checking the air filter.
I had the tire replaced at Larry's here in Orangeville. They said it would be $40 to install and balance a new tire, so I brought it to them. They did say it might take a couple of days due to work load, but they had it ready the next day
. What they didn't tell me was they include a shop fee / environmental charge of $8.95 on all work, and then they added a $4.50 tire levy as well. I asked for the tire back so I could stack the wheel on it and protect the disc. However, this was after they had run up the bill and I hadn't noticed the additional charges. They called later and apologized for the tire levy and offered to put that charge on a credit on my account. At least this will reduce the price on the rear tire installation when I go back in a month or so.

I like my Tracer GT, but I had my ST1100 for 18 seasons, it was nicely set up for long distance touring and I miss it, in particular at hour 8 or more while on the road. You can't compare the turbine like smoothness of a V4 and the comfort of a heavyweight ST bike to what is essential a sport bike, even one with a lot of accessories added to enhance its touring capability.
I've been using Mike for carry in tire changes and balancing for years. $20 a wheel. I'd give him a call to check out on bike cost. I seem to remember it was $40 a wheel.

Mike has a fair amount of racing experience and he can comment on tire wear patterns and suspension set up / fine tuning, an added bonus.
For me, the good thing about carry in is that while the wheels were off I'd do a good cleaning of things more easily accessible + inspect, clean and lube as required brake pads, calipers, pistons, pins dampers, final drive, o-rings etc.......

Installed an Android Auto / CarPlay display unit recently, picked up for cheap off of Amazon. It's another alphabet soup Chinese company, Lamtto in this case, but I picked it up on the recommendation of someone on Reddit. It's dirt cheap, though I paid $140 and I see it's gone up to $170 since. Cheaper than the Aoocci unit I was originally looking at (though that one comes with front and rear cams) and WAY cheaper than the now quite expensive Chigee units. Sensing a pattern with the company names yet?
Anyway, install was fairly straightforward, just needs to connect to the battery and a keyed connection (I used the fusebox), and mounts to the handlebars with an included basic mount. One oversight is it's not compatible with ball mounts, but that's not an issue for me.
Screen is bright enough for full daylight, touchscreen works as well as the phone I was using previously (but is easier because the screen is much bigger), and it's quite responsive. It also comes with a wired handlebar remote with buttons, but it's not a joystick so is extremely limited in its usefulness.
Haven't put it through its paces beyond more than a quick test ride (stupid weather), so will report back when I have a better sense of how it works...

Is the unit specific for a motorcycle or is it a car unit? Looks very interesting although I’d need the iPhone version.

It is specific for motorcycles, only comes with a clamp-on bar mount. If you have clip-ons, you may need to get creative. It's also IP67 waterproof (one of the bar buttons turns off the touchscreen for when it's raining) and has a light sensor so it automatically adjusts the brightness based on ambient light.
It works with both iPhone (CarPlay) and Android (Android Auto), connects to your phone via Bluetooth, assuming your handset is new enough to support the wireless versions of the above. If you're touring, though, you'll need to find a way to keep your phone plugged in to last the day, not sure how much juice it draws to stay connected.
So far it works great with Google Maps, but I haven't experimented yet with a more robust GPS routing app like OsmAnd (Google Maps HATES indirect routes). Anything that works on CarPlay/Android Auto should work on this, as it's functionally just an extension of your phone.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I am intrigued by these devices as I like to keep my phone in my pocket. There are a couple of apps that would be handy to see on it. I have an iPhone 12 so it should be okay with the connectivity.
I too struggle with the above as well and try not to purchase anything from there if possible. I wonder if Temu has something similar, at least it would cut out the American part.

Did you check places like Aliexpress? I would wager the same products (perhaps under different names) are available.
It’s still buying from China, but at least you avoid the America part.

I did, and while there's plenty of cheaper options (around $90), I already knew the one I was looking at was decent, having watched a few YouTube reviews. I've seen a super cheap one from Aliexpress, and the display was incredibly laggy and junky. For the extra $70, plus the massively more reliable return options via Amazon, I decided to forego my non-US shopping policy on this one.
In hindsight, with me not needing dash cams etc, a better choice would probably have been this one direct from Aoocci to cut out Jeff Bezos:

A while back they blitzed the motorcyclist YouTube creators with free units for test, so there's a stack of 'reviews' out there. My understanding is they're pretty decent value, though, and at that price, it's very competitive with the Lamtto...
Where and when are you going to race it?
On another topic, is there a Canadian equivalent to Rock Auto? Not sure why I will do repairs on my m/c take brake calipers apart etc but not on the car. The front brakes will need to be replaced soon. Mods please feel free to move if this is the wrong thread for this. Thanks
