What did you do in your garage today..?

Got to test out a new toy today…

How do you like it so far?
Would you recommend it?

I've been thinking about picking one up as its pretty time consuming using these jackpoint jackstands whenever I want to rotate tires or do a wheels off cleaning.

I would 100% recommend it so far. If you’re in the Mississauga area let me know and you can pop by to check it out.

Took me about 10min to connect, place, test before I was comfortable. 30s to lift and stable.

You can put them on parallel with the car, or perpendicular to the car…whichever suits the need.

I didn’t bother measuring how high it went up…but I can roll under to do oil changes and swap the wheels without the jacks.

MP knows where there is a 7000 for a good price without a pump. I'm not sure if he's going to follow through with that plan or just keep the 5000 he has.

Jacking onto jackstands is a pita. I don't have the fancy jackstands that fit over the jack so I end up jacking off control arms or diffs to allow stands to fit under the pinch welds.

Thank you - going to keep an eye out for deals this November end....If not will wait until next year.

Was concerned about the fact it’s about 12” short of lift points in the rear….but considering it’s a pickup with 62/38 weight distribuon it was a non issue.

Best part…FREE! Buddy of a buddy had it and hated it so wanted it gone!
Good price! A couple of sticks of lumber could easily extend the reach and as a bonus, give an extra inch and a half of lift.

That’s what I was considering doing. Lay a 2x4 across and it would support the full length.

The Maverick has a double seam from front to rear on the sides so I don’t expect much issue.

The balance worried me….

I’m going to pick up some lift pucks to get a tad more height.

Can you use regular hockey pucks?

That 7000 got sold this morning.

Was $500 for a 7000SLX without hydraulic pump. Good deal but then a buddy offered me a free 5000SLX….

How could I say no…and I got to do a drive to London this morning.

@adri I thought you were in love with your barracuda tire changer?

Finally got my base cabinet drawers made. Upper cabinet doors to be done next year.

Used a Kreg tracksaw rig and a jig I made to cut pieces. Not as accurate as a tablesaw, but close enough for garage drawers. Kreg pocket screws used to assemble pieces.

Thankfully had purchased 24" full extension slides on sale from PA for $8 / pr years ago as they have gone up hugely. Single pair for small drawers, two pairs for large drawers.

Too ambitious on drawer spacing at 1/4 inch. Too much time spent fine tuning gaps on drawer fronts. 1 bank of drawers not a problem, getting 5 banks aligned a PITA.

Looks good. I did double slides on a heavy drawer before (IIRC, >3' wide, 18" deep, glass front, used as a liquour cabinet). I'd never do that again. Such a pain to get everything aligned.

Kreg pocket screw system is great. The jigs and screws are fairly priced and easy to use.

I have a Festool Domino, a bunch of the fancy guides for it, and a few dowel jigs, but the Kreg is my choice if I can hide the pocket holes or just don't care.

My sister gifted me her 09 Vespa GTS 250ie as she was tired of putting her summer ride on her lift to make room. I had already put maybe 1000 miles on it over the last several years. She was complaining that it kept stopping. Opened the battery compartment, tightened the screws to the battery and voila . Problem solved. She still doesn't want it any more.

Yesterday I was working on my 84 VF500F project. The starter works but only if wired directly to the battery. Looked at the starter solenoid- when tested as per the manual, I was getting clicking but only very intermittent and inconsistent power across the terminals. There was corrosion on the body so I'm hypothesizing the innards might be corroded leading to poor contact. Are these typically serviceable? I couldn't immediately see how to open up the body and considered just dunking it in Evaporust for a few days.

Cheapest replacement online I could find was ~$13; aftermarket was about $100 from GP. Anybody use one of the $13 jobs? I'd have already ordered the $13 one, but am too impatient to wait the week or two it would take to get.

Modern solenoids are not serviceable.

$10 for a new one on Amazon. Depending on where you live same or next day delivery.

I’ve used a bunch, no failures ever.

Solenoids are universal in nature, just be sure to get one for a 600cc or better bike, Atv or snowmobile.
