We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

I get that. But there's another side. Hypothetically one of the firearms on that list is a bit of a dog when it comes to accuracy so I wouldn't have used it much and probably, if I owned it, would maybe have sold it anyway. I'm more into accurate firearms these days.

Every man has his price.

Program capped at $742M. With ~0.5M guns in Canada, that averages $1500/gun at most. If the number is closer to 7M guns (looks to be the high estimate), that averages $100 per gun.

So the minister gets “ cooked” with a recording he didn’t know was happening , it’s gets released and Shazam , program starts the next day . In Cape f’n Breton . Slow rollout….. is the lingo they are using while they see how it works .
Then the minister says , it’s voluntary, but if you resist you’re a criminal.
Have these idiots learned nothing looking over the border ?

They're still light on details...
How much of that $742 million is going to be used for admin and other operational expenses or.. is that just the money earmarked for payouts to victims of the program?

Not really a "shazam"... the program was already known to begin this month weeks ago.
It's going to be interesting... they "started" the program, but extended the amnesty another full year... I think they just ####ed themselves... LOL.

Not extending the amnesty would have ####ed them more imo (assuming they didn't do the smart thing and kill the entire list). That forces their hand. Police investigating unrelated charges and finding you have many prohib firearms and no authority to possess them almost forces them to lay charges. Do the feds let those proceed to convictions (a successful defense would be very very hard to mount)? That would cause a huge uproar. Do they drop all those charges (the anti-gun whackos that are the lib core would lose their crap at that path)? Amnesty extension allows them to continue to pretend they are doing something while accomplishing nothing (and spending billions). That's the liberal way.

One of the real problems , “charges” never come off your file . If you’re not convicted, then that doesn’t show up but your charges still show. For many no big deal but like travel? Lots of countries do not like drug , DUI or firearms charges on your file , regardless of the outcome of the charge . Not following in line on this gong show could have some sad side effects for what were legitimate owners .

'Not as long as the amnesty is in place.
As irksome as all this is, especially over the past few days... It's great entertainment.
I'm not entirely convinced the game is over.
Deep down I think at least some of the liberal insiders know their plan is dead in the water... They just can't figure out a way out without looking (more) foolish, so they do what EVERY other tyrant has done.. They double down.
There's still time for this to completely collapse.

I just wish more of the general public were aware of what's going on with this file and that it doesn't affect just gun owners.
If the government can simply confiscate your legally acquired property simply because they decide you don't need it...
What's next..?

As for today... I have to decide whether I go for a ride or pack up some guns and ammo and go to the range for the rest of the afternoon...

What’s next ? I hope E-scooters .

Won't be e-scooters... It'll be our internal combustion powered motorcycles.

"No one needs a 100 HP motorcycle. We need to get them off our streets because "muh public safety".
Moving forward all IC motorcycles will be limited to 50cc. You can turn in your existing machines to the government and receive compensation of $1000 regardless of what they're actually worth".

I picked up a Browning maxus II semi auto twelve Gauge . Thirty in barrel it feels like a bazooka but shoots softly. I’m mostly a break open gun guy but shot pidgeons with it this week , for what I payed it’s fun .

New gun day is as good as new bike day!

I finally put together a Browning o/u gun that came with a full set of titanium Briley tubes , twenty , twenty eight and four ten reduction. They twenties have a sticking shell problem , the cheap challenger brand swells just enough on discharge to bind in the extractor. I’ll try Herders or Winchester AA and see if that’s better . I was excited to shoot twenty gauge for clay pidgeons and less recoil , but adding thirty percent to shell costs will suck lol

Saskatchewan just passed a law to help counteract the libs gun grab. To seize a firearm in SK, you must pay the fair market value as determined by the SK Firearms Commissioner. I suspect the libs will argue they are not seizing anything. These are voluntary surrenders. As usual, the libs will leave out the part about half of the population becoming criminals if they don't volunteer. I wonder what the definition of extortion is? That would be a fun law suit with politicians becoming personally responsible for the many millions spent on their extortion scheme.

I think by now it's quite apparent that our political class isn't personally responsible for anything they do.
I'm cautiously optimistic that in the end, this iteration of the government's fetish with gun control will fail loudly.
With the already registered restricted firearms, we're f###ed. Those are easily confiscated, but every firearm that went from non restricted to prohibited... Good f###ing luck.
I dont know anyone in the so called "shooting sports community" that has said they plan to comply.
In practical terms the scheme is unenforceable.

They don't need to actively enforce it. Just leave it dangling and let the amnesty expire. As people die or interact with cops for any reason, they scoop up the guns. It helps nobody, it's just virtue signaling and theft but those are are the top priorities of our current government.

You nailed it.
On paper they can say they've saved us all.

That said... 'Just got home from shooting an IPSC match.
Lots of bang bang and again... no one got hurt.

In the hundred year history of our gun club ( shotgun only) there have been two accidents involving old guys that should have quit. But the point here is accidents , nothing planned and zero criminal intent .

There are more injuries in sports ball activities than shooting sports.
If you want to get a good idea on the safety record of shooting sports... ask anyone involved about insurance rates for gun clubs and events...
