My project bike is cumming together, however I'm missing part #6 below. It is also out of stock and I'm having a very hard time finding it. Anyone have this bit in their spares that they would be willing, to part with? or know how I can fab up something that will work?

#6 its a hose? Universal hose kit? with some clamps

No, #6 is a steel pipe that has to align very accurately between the water pump outlet and the water distribution manifold inlet.

Try YZF600 (not R6) parts. The YZF600 engine is the same basic design. My online parts diagram source is not co-operating right now, but YZF parts should fit. You might have to change the water pump to make that work, I know that there are a couple of different arrangements. They'll all bolt onto the cases but they have different inlet and outlet configurations.

The other choice is to fab up two little sleeves with an O-ring shoulder to seal inside the existing openings, each with a tab that will pick up the existing bolt hole so that you can bolt it down, and then use a hose to connect the two.

Why not wait, Yamaha back orders take 1-2 weeks normally

Maybe for a later model, but I've waited almost a year for a fuel tap for this particular model ...

Parts link is working now. BikeBandit is showing part #6 as being discontinued for the FZR400. For a 1997 YZF600R, the corresponding part is shown as being still available, and it appears to connect in the same way to the water pump and at the distribution manifold. The only diff appears to be an extra small-diameter hose barb on it, which you can just plug. Folks that have done mix-and-match mongrel engines have never said anything about this piece being different or not fitting, so it should be a go.

+1. The part is discontinued. I went through the same thing about a year ago and tried Brian's suggestion back then.

Thank you all. Yes its discontinued (the joy of working on older bikes) and yes its steel. I will give the YZF600R part a go!

Well he said out of stock not discontinued, big difference....I bought a gas tank that was out of stock in Canada and Japan, Kawi had to paint the tank and still had it to me in 2 weeks. A year! They should have just discontinued it also

Well....I found the part. I bought a complete engine for $20 that was taking up space in a garage and I am now cannibalizing it. I have my pipe and if you need any engine bits let me know.
