Wannabe rider from Richmond Hill says "Hi"

Hi all,

I am really happy to find this website.
I thought I say "Hi", and introduce myself.
I was spending some time on "Volusiariders" forum - but after this weekend - I reconsidered my focus on cruisers to something else.

I just got my M2 this year, and started saving for the first-year-on-insurance and a decent downpayment.
Just waiting the expo in February to make a deal on a cruiser. Not sure yet what will that be.

I was 100% sure until this weekend it'll be the C50T but not anymore.
Now I consider the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 LT, or the C90T.
Then...browsing here-there - I learned that the H-D Softail is almost on the same price - of-course previously owned.

So right now - there is a huge question mark about "what-will-it-be", but I know it will be something by the end of this coming winter (my son finishes university - no more tuition, LOL)

I just signed up on this forum - didn't have yet chances to start going in-deep on the forum for the usual useful information - such as: insurance (urrrrgh), what are other members riding and their points of view about those bikes, road safety, tips and tricks, clubs, points of interest, dealers, mechanics, etc etc...

I just wanted to say "Hi" and hopefully wave to you'all starting next spring from my cruiser around the town.

Safe ride to all of you,
Rudy Transylvanian-Canadian

Hey, i don't ride a cruiser but with your situation i think what you really need to do is find out which motorcycle you want the most and go see it in person and sit on it and get the feel for it.

Once you've figured out which motorcycle you want...then take the steps to learn the basic maintenance before you even buy it. Learn everything there is to know about the bike, think of it like you're buying a house. You want to know everything about it before you buy it right?

Internet is your best friend, there's a lot "how to" videos on nearly every motorcycle on many websites especially youtube. Learn the basic maintenance for your bike like changing oil, coolant, air filter etc to save you A LOT of money and its never bad to just have the knowledge of your bike. Also take a look at video reviews, POV riding videos etc...everything about the bike.

Once you've learned the bike, figure out what the cost is going to be, start shopping around for insurance and see what your quotes are going to be like, see how much money you'll be spending on gear, and the maintenance of the bike. Calculate it all and see if you're prepared to get a bike financially (a lot of people always seem to forget about the financial step and only think about the purchase of the bike, then you have them crying for the whole season).

As for looking into insurance, you can call a bunch of companies or you can always try a quick somewhat accurate online quote using www.kanetix.ca

Welcome to the forum Rudy. I'm from Richmond hill also and currently ride a cruiser. I have bunch of riding gear that I don't use anymore , you can have them for free if they fit you. Good luck with your bike shopping.

Welcome. You will find lots of info here, I ride a cruiser. One of my friends rides a C50T, compared to my Vulcan 1500 it really shows it's size in lack of torque and get up an go. Another friend of mine rides the C90T....now that is a bike - tons of power and torque. Depending on your size you might want to go for bigger. Good luck finding your ride (there is a December show and January show too). When I purchased my bikes I did very little research, didn't care to find out too much about maintenance, just bought the bikes and rode....

Welcome I ride through Richmond Hill daily..lol I was riding a Suzuki 750 Intruder until last season in the spring I knew it was time to upgrade. I originally was looking at a few C50's as well. I figured that would be adequate CC's coming from a 750. Then I looked at a C90..

Then I saw and instantly fell in love with my Roadstar 1700 Silverado, 12,000 K in about 3 months and I am happier than a pig in you know what..lol I had my M2, (although I had ridden for 20 years previously when I lapsed and then got back to riding), when I picked it up. I found it instantly comfortable to handle. Plus it was nice to see my riding buddy, (who sold me the 750 when he got his 11 VStar), drool when he first laid eyes on my bike..LMAO
