Upgrades Worth

I can't see how those upgrade devalue the bike?
But either way I would say it is overpriced for sure, I would say the going price for that bike should be between $4,000-$4,500 in Ontario's market.
 
The right price for that bike is probably $3500-$4000. The lighting modifications mean that I wouldn't buy it unless (A) the stock parts were available and (B) the stock wiring harness is not a hack job as a result of those mods.
 
The only thing that is good about the "upgrades" is the steering damper.
Even that, I may pitch.
I would have to see how it handles without it.

I'd rather buy a stock bike with simple bolt ons. I've bought bikes with issues with wiring etc. I even want stock signal cuz people hack stuff to s***. Half the time I'm thinking "why u do dis?". Stock bikes only.

Wait until it's sitting in his garage for a year cause his price is out to lunch. You can get a much better bike than a 10 year old R6 for that price.
 
Accessories are a personal taste/preference. The chances of buying a modded bike with parts that you'd put on it are slim therefore they hold little value for resale, kind of like a custom paint job. Just because the seller thinks his/her bike is the hot shiz...you may think the custom work is tacky or unappealing. I prefer to buy a clean slat and mod it to my liking, therefor I buy as stock as possible.
 
that yamaha is not worth anything close to it's asking value...good of you to post it here.

its possible to get a recent gen stock r6 for the same coin...

I bought pretty much the exact same bike (was set up for track but could have been converted) about 5 years ago for $4200.

I wouldn't pay more than 3. It's 11 years old!


Edit- now looking at it, the bike I bought was better (full exhaust for example) and two boxes of parts hour ripped off the stock bike. Plus pitbull stands.

Advice is buy in oct/nov. No one wants to store over the winter

so if an almost 11 year old bike is worth 5k, would you be interested in my 2012 for more than I paid for it? :rolleyes:

By some people's logic bikes only depreciate by about $25 a year. It's ridiculous.
 
Thanks for all the input it's a real eye opener. Most bikes I'm seeing 2003+ everybody asking $4500+, really seems like they're just trying to get the most coin not what the bike is valued.

Anyone know if anyone selling an R6 at a fair price?
 
Mods never hold their value and add a fraction of the cost of the mod to a car or bike. If a bike has mods that you like and to your taste then it can be a good deal for you to buy a bike that has thousands of dollars in mods for a modest amount of increased money over a stock bike.

When I sold my Chevelle a few years ago I lost money on it. Thousands of dollars (and untold hours) in labour, parts etc and still took a loss. Thats the way it is.

Want a house with a pool? Buy a house that already has one. You will get it for free. Pools almost devalue a house because lots of people don't want the maintenance etc.

I have done a lot of work on my CB 750 to make it more reliable. More work coming this off season. I doubt it will add a cent to the value. A $1500 or so bike no matter what I do to it. I could even find N.O.S. 4 into 4 exhaust and make the bike look new. $1500-$2000 is the max this bike is worth. It is not a CBX. That's just the way it is.



Even with the extra parts I have now: starter, starter clutch (both rebuilt), windscreen, luggage... Adds little to no value to the bike...

I didnt say its worth 5k but goodluck trying to get a seller that has it listed for that to sell for 3000.
