Interesting info, even though it's only up to 2011. Could be a repost, who knows, believe the report was released in Jan 14.

I would have bet my last $ that motorcycle fatalities were increasing, not so according to this report.

Infact 2011 #'s are almost the same as 1999.

So why the decrease in #'s, more awareness? better training?

I wonder what the numbers for the last three years is, because your right it does seem like they were increasing.

The internet has made everyone connected to everyone else, so there is more awareness when something happens.

Exactly, same with crime, its been going down for a couple decades yet the paranoia of people is getting out of control...

Interesting than twice as many pedestrians where killed than motorcyclists. Safer to ride than walk ...

Until you factor that there are ~30,000,000 pedestrians, and only ~682,000 registered motorcyclists in Canada.

The scariest stat I saw was that 10% of all serious injuries occurred on a motorcycle, even though motorcyclists make up less than 3% of those on the road (23,800,000 licensed drivers vs. 682,000 bikes)

I'm sure my stats are a little rusty, but what I'm getting is you're over 3x as likely to be maimed while riding vs. driving

Stay safe out there guys.

Most Police stations have big whiteboards in their lobby with actual statistics for their region. It's worth checking out. You can actually go in those places without being in handcuffs you know :D

A rather intangible stat considering not all pedestrians are in traditional traffic areas - i.e. highways, walking along major streets.

But I do concur and bow to your wisdom. I was just trying to get the stats working in our favour :).

I think someone on this forum said that just isnt true.

And regardless, our insurance rates are going to go up because of the ice storm and 90+ chain collision this winter which have nothing to do with bikes.

Well, they came up with a great excuse for raising the insurance $$$, i just got mine renewed, my 'insurance' went down because i turned 30, but my 'bodily harm' premium went up 2x.... so, insurance ended up going 250 UP.......

Biggest scam ever...
