Took my 2008 GSX-R 750 Down the 1/4 Mile for the First Time

So this past weekend I took my 2008 GSX-R 750 down the 1/4 mile at TMP for the first time. It is actually not that easy lol, at least for me and my lack of experience. First pass of the day was an 11.2 at 131mph, and my fastest was a 10.8 at 134mph with lots of 10.9's. My buddy with the same bike ran a 10.4 at 134mph which shows you the difference between a basic rider and a great rider (See the last time slip). The fastest out of my friends was a 2012 GSX-R 1000 which went 10.07 at 146mph!!! The thing is a freight train!

There was also open lapping there that day which looked liked a lot of fun. Next step will be to take it around a road course! I can't wait.

First pass

Fastest pass - Still need to work on my launches LOL!!

Very nice! What mods on the ZX6-R? That's quite the mph for a 600!

decent runs... i took my 07 gsxr 750 once to drag last year and was running 10.8-11.2's consistently, stock with exhaust. it is hard as hell to launch a stock bike at the strip...

Road courses are where its at tho :p

^Thanks. I had many 10.9's and 11.0's lol. Ya the road course is for sure where its at. It looked like a lot of fun.

i took alot of wieght off of it.
mods
kit ecu,1 down and 44 rear,full hindle and pc5

That makes sense. My buddy was running 10.9's on his 2007 CBR 600RR at 129mph, but he only weighs 150 pounds!

uhh...according to the manufacturer....a ZX 6r has a top speed of 270 kmph....which equates to 167.77 mph....so why are people saying 133mph is fast for a 600?

you really think stock 600cc hit 167.77 mph...give you head a shake.. at daytona i was on a zx6 with a full exhaust, jetting, cams. and 1 up on the front and 1 down on the rear sprocket. and all i hit was 163mph

Without the +1/-1 you might have been able to hit the 167mph (Unless you were at the rev limiter) as stretching it out too much would just make it more difficult to get there..

so i'm geared taller then stock and i hit redline down the longest str8 on this side of the contenate with a bunch of mods to the bike. and you think a stock bike will hit a faster top speed?

I was just saying that if you can't hit your rev limiter it is pointless to stretch out your gearing as you will just be at a lower RPM (lower power) trying to accelerate.

Maybe get TAFB's to tune your bike as he says 600's can hit 283km/hr all day long lol.

07-10 ZX6R at 14,000 rpm (is that redline?). Top speed with stock gearing if I have the redline right is 250 km / h. With +1/-1 it is 272 (assuming you have the motor to pull redline in sixth with that gearing!).

Bring me your 08+ R6 and I'll make her hit 283 no problem.

Screw all this "limited to 76% throttle" crap ;)
