Tobermory, Mantoulin, Sudbury, Kilarnie and parts, July 12/13

Ya sounds good, my family is still away fir another two weeks, I can do evening rides any night. Haven't been back since my trip, kinda freaked out a bit from what happened to Lawerence, so I will be taking it easy.

Seems I dodged a big rain.....nice ride - big temp change on the route.
Lovely ride up 63 and then 101 but found a sweet 90 mile alternative up 391 - about 70 of it absolutely pristine pavement - just done and a joy to ride as there were decent turns and some up and down.
Made my day ....tho was getting cold at the end....15 just now going down to 7 brrrrr :confused1:

23 tomorrows high - might start a bit later....but want to get to Ottawa at a decent time by way of 117 500k or so -

I did a power ride from barrie to meldrum bay.

I went the hwy 6 way. According to google it was about 550 km one way. On my way I stopped at the French River and had a look at the recollet falls. If you can call them falls. There was a couple of boats fishing there. Looks like a good shore fishing spot. Afterwards, I continued on to manitoulin island. Gas is few and far between. I should have got gas in little current instead of filling in Espanola. The plan after meldrum bay was to catch the last ferry to tobermory. I wasted alot of time leaving barrie. I went to get a hair cut and did some other things and so on. It was after ten before I left. Checking out the french river cost me some time as well. When I was at meldrum bay I knew I was not going to make the last ferry so I powered back the way I came. It was night and and my fuel guage was deep into the red. Before I hit little current there was finally a gas station open. My tank holds 10 l and I put in 8.57 litres. I did see a shell open in little current. On the little gas I had left I think I would have made it. I was going to fill up again in sudbury but there weren't any obvious gas stops. The only gas station open was a petro pass and you needed a card. So I powered on and tried to get gas at another station I saw along the way, closed. What ended up happening is a I ran out of gas 2 km from an open gas station outside of Parry Sound. I walked my bike 2 km to the gas station.

I made it back to Barrie around 4 in the morning. That was a 1200 km round trip. Will I do it again? Already thinking of my next 1 day power ride. :)
