The one traveling south on Bathurst at 250pm. Near major Mac.

I understand you lane filtered up the right hand turn lane and stopped at the front to get in first position. I understand. But the guy in the old Buick or whatever it was that tried to go fast off the line and leaned on the horn at you on the bike... That's okay I suppose.

But turning around, flipping him off, then at the next light you stop and you and the guy in the car confront each other and the cage with his phone or camera hanging out I guess to take a pic of you... Okay I suppose.

But when your going south on Bathurst after major mac and your riding the middle line on the guys back left tire that's a little bit dangerous.

Think about your girl passenger that was holding on the back of your bike with the only gear being a helmet she was wearing. Slight jerk but the car and your both down, sorry but in my opinion you took it a little far. Not sure what happened after as I lost you at the next light but hope you made it.

Was a black r6 or CBR 600-1000 or something I think.

Bikers have bad bad reps and I can see why after yesterday's ride. We ride like we own the road. Staying in your lane, keeping a safe speed limit, nope, those rules don't apply to us. It's like we're always on a rush to get somewhere (prob to the next timmy's)
 
We are not all one. I dont represent other bikers and they dont represent me. With that said there is no shortage of bad drivers in cars, trucks and on motorcycles.
 
while that is true, unfortunately that may not be the way the general public may see it, I think the OP has a point

Paul, one example is enough to make, or in this case, reinforce the stereotype about bikers. While you may think that you don't represent other bikers and they don't represent you, cagers on the road do and will think otherwise.
 
I really don't see what problem a cager has with lane filtering, especially when we're not impeding or slowing them down in anyway. Its just their own ego, because as soon as the light hits green we're gone and they can continue merrily on their way.

The worst is when a cager doesn't pull up to the white line and leaves enough space for at least 4 bikes let alone one. Then if you filter they look at you like wtf?? If you're in such as hurry and want to be first, properly pull up to the front homie...Its not my fault I'm not a brick on the road and I will use it to my full advantage.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. If 9 out of 10 bikes were driving like grandmas in the left lane and everyone had to go around them then that's the label they'd carry. Unfortunately a lot of riders, especially on sport bikes, like to ride like they are on a race track.
You're not gonna change this stereotype any time soon.

Yup. This is the riding behavior that non-motorcycle motorists have come to expect from motorcyclists. It's the 'stereotype' ViperZ so aptly refers to.
Whenever I'm out riding or driving and I see a motorcyclist*, I too expect this riding behavior and navigate accordingly.
The odd time, I'm surprised when they ride sanely.



*i.e. someone I'm not out riding with.

Probably because it's illegal? That and the fact that people aren't expecting you to do it especially since it's illegal.
 
Here we go again, i guess new riding season is up and running, time to start crying about what others do
 
This is also alarms me, as a "soon to be" rider i dont want to be automatically hated on by cage drivers.
what can we do as respectable riders to change our image in the public eye?
it definitely excites me to see so many bikes on the road but people like in the first post make me a little pessemistic.

Respectable riders? Seriously? The only real advice you'll get is 'ride like you are invisible'. It will save your life one day. Pretty much expect any car on our awesome GTA roads to drive over your bike.

Ugh. I did give you an advice how to ride in our great traffic. It's up to you to take it or leave it. And, no, life is not all rosey as some fairy tales picture it. I am not trying to scare you off the bikes, but here is another one: 99% chance that you will fall off that bike at least once. Some people say that there are two kinds of bikers - some who will fall, and some who already fell.

Yes, I am stereotyping, but tell me where I am wrong. Yes, most Toronto drivers are fools and either don't know how to drive or think they were born with multitasking talent (i.e. texting and driving). Yes, they don't care to watch for riders for many reasons - riding season is too short, bikes are too small and too fast, etc etc. You want to change bikers' image? Maybe call Rob Ford on his radio show and discuss your ideas there. Sorry, last suggestion WAS a joke.

Yes it is, you will cry too when you become a victim of cagers rage, due to the stereotype other bikes put on the rest of us. I was once purposely braked check by a cager, I don't know why he did it, He is wrong , I am right, yada yada yada........ bottom line is they are in a cage and we on 2 may become road meat.
