Since this seems to be a current thread. This winter I'm going to replace my old Dunlop GPA DOTs, the slicks are a bit cheaper or is that something I shouldn't bother with because I'm still on slower side(1:27.7 I found on my timer). I only started riding bikes this year so I don't really know the answer. I'm happy with my tires now maybe I should just buy another set.
Do not run slicks unless you have tire warmers. Even with tire warmers, your pace won't be able to keep them hot, unless you mean you do 1:27.7 at Mosport big track. I'm assuming you mean TMP.

After watching that video something seemed familiar. So I froze the screen right when he passed you and I totally remember that guy from a TMP day I was at - another liter bike hero on an R1. Then I remembered this, same spot, same bike, but roles reversed (kind of, I made the pass but wasn't a dew-sche about it). Pretty funny:

A lot of people on this forum will tell you it's slicks or nothing (in terms of traction), but don't forget that 600 classes world-wide are running DOT's. AMA pro 600 use GPA's, WSS and CSBK 600 use Pirelli SC's, so there's nothing wrong with traction of DOT race tires. In terms of longevity there may be some advantage to slicks, but Dunlop GPA's are a good bang for your buck.
I was more after the cost savings, they're great tires. At least they seem to work for me so why change up something that works. I was just thinking they use the same compounds just the GPAs are groved.

I'm sitting up because I have no windshield to tuck behind and with my gopro there I can't tuck (in a straight line), lol. What do you call a non-power wheelie? I didn't clutch it up, bounce the front, that's only from a throttle roll on?? The wheelie in the pic was higher than normal (for the camera), and I feather the throttle to keep it at that height. If I can keep it that high down the entire front straight and still out accelerate 600's I'm happy.

Power wheelies are typically okay. "Other" wheelies are not. You should know that, since you've been black flagged, and presumably have had it explained to you.
Wheelies where you have to feather it all the way down the straight are not power wheelies. You should be able to be full throttle on a litre bike without doing a wheelie. A power wheelie is one that happens while getting on the power and you are still achieving maximum possible acceleration. Usually a power wheelie causes the rider to slow the application of throttle to get the wheel back on the ground so full throttle can be applied.
You don't need a windshield in order to be in a proper tuck position. If the wheelies are because of your camera then move (or remove) your camera.

I have a liter bike, I wheelie but never on purpose. Wheelies = slower lap times. I go to 1st have fun, 2nd become a faster better rider.
If wheelie is your main priority. Do drag strip. $30. Wheelie all the time. And they won't care there is no one around you.
Doing a wheelie on a liter bike is like breathing, it's easy and requires no effort or challenge. Becoming a better rider= challenge and is rewarding.

Great, another red group video to remind me how crap I am. Very nice riding! Like doozerdave smoothness and precision but with more hp. It's good for me to watch how you guys do it...but kinda depressing in a way
And yeah, your pass in 9 was totally clean, especially for red group. I'd say it was even perfectly acceptable for intermediate because you were so far ahead by the time you turned in that it couldn't have materially affected his line options.
